ORDERED GEOMETRIES FOR OPTOMIZED HOLOGRAPHIC PROJECTION
Disclosed are systems for directing energy according to holographic projection. Configurations of waveguide arrays are disclosed for improved efficiency and resolution of propagated energy through tessellation of shaped energy waveguides.
FIBER OPTIC CABLES WITH EXTRUDED ACCESS FEATURES AND METHODS OF MAKING FIBER OPTIC CABLES
Cables are constructed with embedded discontinuities in the cable jacket that allow the jacket to be torn to provide access to the cable core. The discontinuities can be longitudinally extending strips of polymer material coextruded in the cable jacket.
Environmental sealing arrangement for furcated optical fibers
An assembly for protecting spliced optical fibers includes: a fiber optic cable comprising at least one optical fiber and a surrounding jacket; at least one elongate tubular member housing the optical fiber, wherein a gap exists between the elongate tubular member and the jacket such that the optical fiber has an exposed region; and a premold block formed of an ultra-low pressure material, the premold block encasing the exposed region of the optical fiber.
MULTICORE OPTICAL FIBERS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A multicore optical fiber with a reference section having a material defining a marked multicore glass optical fiber. The multicore fibers can be in groupings, for example, the groupings can be in the form of one of an optical fiber ribbon covered by a matrix, and a tight buffered cable. Fiber optic connectors can be assembled to the multicore optical fiber at either or both ends, and the colored portion can be associated with the optical fiber connector aligning the optical core elements with the optical connectors. The assembly can have at least one transceiver device with a transmit port and a receive port defining a two-way communication channel. Further aspects describe methods of manufacturing multicore fibers including application of curable coatings and reference sections.

Bondline control fixture and method of affixing first and second components
A bondline control fixture and an active bondline control fixture are provided for affixing first and second components. The bondline control fixture includes a base fixable relative to a first component maneuvering device and comprising a first body defining an aperture and a first chamber and a second body disposable within the first chamber and defining a second chamber, a flexible membrane disposable to seal the second chamber, a mobile plate to which the second component is removably attachable, the mobile plate being disposable in contact with the flexible membrane and a pressure regulating system coupled to the second body and configured to regulate a pressure within the second chamber to deform the flexible membrane.
METHOD OF THERMALLY DRAWING STRUCTURED SHEETS
A method of drawing a material into sheet form includes forming a preform comprising at least one material as a large aspect ratio block wherein a first transverse dimension of the preform is much greater than a second transverse dimension substantially perpendicular to the first transverse dimension. A furnace having substantially linearly opposed heating elements one spaced from the other is provided and the heating elements are energized to apply heat to the preform to create a negative thermal gradient from an exterior surface along the first transverse dimension of the preform inward toward a central plane of the preform. The preform is drawn in such a manner that the material substantially maintains its first transverse dimension and deforms across its second transverse dimension.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR FORMING MICROSTRUCTURED FIBRE
A die and method for extruding an extrudable material to form an extruded member is described. In one embodiment, the die comprises a barrier member comprising a plurality of feed channels that extend through the barrier member. Furthermore, the die incorporates a passage forming member extending from the barrier member substantially in the direction of extrusion. The feed channels are arranged with respect to the passage forming member to allow the extrudable material to substantially flow about the passage forming member to form a corresponding passage in the extruded member.
APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING AN OPTICAL FIBER
An apparatus for manufacturing an optical fiber, including a drawing portion, a coating portion, and a curing portion; wherein a direction changer which changes a direction of the bare optical fiber is disposed in any position from the drawing portion to the coating portion, the direction changer includes a guide groove which guides the bare optical fiber, a blowout port of a fluid which floats the bare optical fiber wired along the guide groove is formed along the guide groove in the guide groove, and an average flow rate or a highest flow rate of the fluid in an inlet wire portion of the bare optical fiber to the guide groove, and an outlet wire portion from the guide groove is faster than a lowest flow rate of the fluid in an intermediate portion between the inlet wire portion and the outlet wire portion in the blowout port.
