A method of making an optical filter film with varying optical properties includes the step of drawing a multilayer polymeric preform into an optical filter and varying at least one environmental condition being a member of the group including of heat, pressure, tension, and a drawing speed, the at least one environmental condition being varied over time or over a distance, or both, and causing a variation in layer thickness within the optical filter. The preform may be drawn through a furnace subjecting the preform to a heating power that varies across a width of the furnace or over time or both across the width and over time. The preform may also be drawn through the furnace while the drawing speed varies across a width of the furnace or over time or both across the width and over time.

Liquid crystalline polymer film with diffractive optical noise removed and method of manufacturing the same
Provided is a liquid crystalline polymer film where noise caused by diffraction light is removed. The liquid crystalline polymer film is configured to include a first liquid crystalline polymer film formed by simultaneously performing a bottom-up alignment method by a lower alignment film and a top-down alignment method by using a groove structure and a second liquid crystalline polymer film formed on an upper portion of the first liquid crystalline polymer film by overcoating. The second liquid crystalline polymer film is configured so as to satisfy a refractive index matching condition with respect to the first liquid crystalline polymer film, so that noise caused by undesired diffraction phenomenon generated by the groove structure on the upper surface of the first liquid crystalline polymer film is removed.
Methods and apparatuses for casting optical polymer films
In an example method of forming an optical film for an eyepiece, a curable material is dispensed into a space between a first and a second mold surface. A position of the first mold surface relative to the second mold surface is measured using a plurality of sensors. Each sensor measures a respective relative distance along a respective measurement axis between a respective point on a planar portion of the first mold surface and a respective point on a planar portion of the second mold surface. The measurement axes are parallel to each other, and the points define corresponding triangles on the first and second mold surfaces, respectively. The position of the first mold surface is adjusted relative to the second mold surface based on the measured position, and the curable material is cured to form the optical film.
OPTICAL BODY, OPTICAL FILM ADHESIVE BODY, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OPTICAL BODY
There is provided a new and improved optical body, optical film adhesive body, and method for manufacturing an optical body, in which a concave-convex structure of an optical film can be protected without the use of a protective film, the optical film can be made thinner, the handling properties can be improved, the occurrence of defects caused by a difference in the refractive index between an adhesive layer and the optical film can be minimized, and the optical film can be applied more firmly to the adherend, the optical body including: an optical film provided with first and second concave-convex structures; and a master film in which an average period of concavities and convexities of the first concave-convex structure is less than or equal to visible light wavelengths, and the master film is provided with a third concave-convex structure which has a reverse shape of the first concave-convex structure.
Feedblock for manufacturing multilayer polymeric films
A feedblock including a first packet creator that forms a first packet including a first plurality of polymeric layers, the first plurality of layers including at least four first individual polymeric layers; and a second packet creator that forms a second packet including a second plurality of polymeric layers, the second plurality of layers including at least four second individual polymeric layers, wherein the first and second packet creators are configured such that, for each packet creator, respective individual polymeric layers of the plurality of polymeric layers are formed at approximately the same time. The feedblock may include a packet combiner that receives and combines the first and second primary packets to form a multilayer stream. In some examples, at least one of the first and second primary packets may be spread in the cross-web direction prior to being combined with one another.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HIGH TRANSMISSION LIGHT CONTROL FILM AND HIGH TRANSMISSION LIGHT CONTROL FILM
A method for manufacturing a high transmission light control film and the high transmission light control film are discussed. The high transmission light control film manufactured according to an embodiment can have a high aperture ratio since a louver layer is formed of a thin deposition film having a thickness of nanoscale, thereby having an improved front-view luminance.
