METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR SELECTIVELY OCCLUDING THE LUMEN OF A NEEDLE
A fluid transfer device for parenterally transferring fluid to and/or from a patient includes a housing, a needle, and an occlusion mechanism. The housing defines a fluid flow path and is couplable to a fluid reservoir. The needle has a distal end portion that is configured to be inserted into the patient and a proximal end portion that is configured to be fluidically coupled to the fluid flow path of the housing, and defines a lumen therebetween. The occlusion mechanism selectively controls a fluid flow between the needle and the fluid flow path. The occlusion mechanism includes an occlusion member that is movable between a first configuration where the lumen of the needle is obstructed during insertion into the patient and a second configuration where the lumen of the needle is unobstructed after the needle has been inserted into the patient allowing fluid transfer to or from the patient.
Pressure actuated valve with improved biasing member
A valve for controlling material flow through a catheter, comprises a first flexible member including a first moveable element, wherein, when the first moveable element is in the open position, material may flow past the first flexible member through a first lumen of the catheter and, when the first moveable element is in the closed position, flow through the first lumen is prevented and a first biasing member coupled to the first flexible member for biasing the first moveable member toward the closed position.

FLUID DELIVERY PUMP VALVE ASSEMBLY
Wearable fluid delivery devices and pump systems having a bistable valve for setting a fluid path in one of a fluid fill state or a fluid delivery state are described. For example, in one embodiment, a fluid pump system for a wearable fluid delivery device may include a pump chamber to store a fluid, a fluid path valve operable with the pump chamber, the fluid path valve may include a fixed portion and a movable portion, a shaft configured to move along the fixed portion to engage the movable portion responsive to a force imparted by an actuator, the movable portion comprising an offset to deflect movement of the shaft to cause the movable portion to pivot from one of a first position to a second position to the other of the first position or the second position responsive to being engaged by the shaft. Other embodiments are described.
Medical system and disposable medical vacuum drainage bag for use with same
A disposable medical vacuum drainage bag includes a flexible enclosure made of a flexible material. The flexible enclosure is configured to define an interior chamber. The flexible enclosure has a first fluid port and a second fluid port. The flexible enclosure has a collapsed state and an expanded state. A framework is located in the interior chamber. The framework has a plurality of frame structures configured to rotate in unison about separate rotational axes between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration, wherein the collapsed configuration facilitates the collapsed state of the flexible enclosure and the expanded configuration facilitates the expanded state of the flexible enclosure. An actuator is coupled to the framework. The actuator is configured to rotatably transition the plurality of frame structures between the collapsed configuration and the expanded configuration.

Suction valve apparatus and method of using same
The present invention pertains to a suction valve apparatus for use in being directly connected to a surgical suction tubing and a surgical suction tip, and thus, allowing a user to stop, or shut off, a flow of suction with the use of a single hand. The present invention pertains to a thumb-activated shut-off valve apparatus for use in easily and efficiently stopping and starting a flow of suction during surgical operations. The suction valve apparatus of the present invention generally comprises a ball valve member, an O-ring, a housing member, and a handle switch member, wherein said ball valve member, said housing member, said O-ring, and said handle switch member cooperate to be able to stop or start a flow of suction from a surgical suction tube and a surgical suction tip.
WEARABLE BREAST PUMP SYSTEM
A breast pump system comprises at least one wearable milk collection hub connected via an air line to a combined external air pump and control unit. Each milk collection hub comprises: (a) a breast shield made up of a breast flange and a nipple tunnel; (b) a flexible diaphragm that is configured to prevent milk from reaching the external air pump; (c) an outer shell that is configured to removably attach to the breast shield, such that, when attached, the breast shield and outer shell form a vessel for collecting milk; and (d) a diaphragm cap that is configured to be secured over the diaphragm, forms part of the front face of the outer shell, and includes a port connected to the air line.
