All-purpose Drainage Catheter

An all-purpose drainage catheter which includes an all-purpose drainage catheter lumen, an extension tubing, a collection bag, a catheter hub, a Luer valve. The extension tubing inserted into the all-purpose drainage catheter lumen. The collection bag is fluidly coupled to the extension tubing. The Luer valve facilitates nephrostomy care so that when the all-purpose drainage catheter is in place urine flows from the renal pelvis into the all-purpose drainage catheter lumen, the extension tubing and the collection bag. The Luer valve employs a scalloped Luer-style male connector which, when screwed into the catheter hub, further allows urine to flow from the renal pelvis into the all-purpose drainage catheter lumen, the extension tubing and the collection bag. The all-purpose drainage catheter includes an outer catheter hub, an inner catheter hub coupled to the Luer valve at one end thereof and insertedly coupled to the outer catheter hub. A gear rack has a set of ratchet teeth and is disposed on and coupled to the inner catheter hub. A ratchet pawl disposed on and coupled to the outer catheter hub and aligned with the gear rack so that the ratchet pawl engages one of the ratchet teeth to secure the inner catheter hup to the outer catheter hub.

MEDICAL CONNECTOR

Some embodiments disclosed herein relate to medical connectors with a housing comprising a proximal body member and a base member that form an internal cavity with a proximal abutment surface. An elastomeric seal without a guide member is positioned within the internal cavity. A rigid, hollow elongated portion is located within the internal cavity such that in an open configuration, a tip of the elongated portion is more proximal than a proximal surface of the elastomeric seal. A distal portion of the elastomeric seal is seated radially within a region surrounded by a plurality of longitudinally extending protrusions.

A guidewire support accessory includes one or more hollow tubular sections, each of the hollow tubular sections including a first end and an opposing second end for individually supporting a plurality of medical guidewires. A connector is disposed at the first end. Each of the one or more hollow tubular sections is sized and configured to receive a medical guidewire maintained in a coiled arrangement. The accessory includes at least one clamp configured to releasably retain a guidewire in the coiled arrangement, as well as at least one wiping or cleaning feature.

Zero dead leg valve

A valve having a body having a first section and a second section; an extended flange attached to the second section of the body or disposed as an integral part of the second section of the body; an elongate bore extending through the body and having a proximal end and a distal end; a longitudinally displaceable plunger disposed in and extending along the bore, the plunger having a proximal end and a distal end and having a first position displaced toward the distal end of the bore and a second position displaced toward the proximal end of the bore; a diaphragm seal attached to the proximal end of the plunger and sealing the bore at the proximal end thereof; a gland seal sealing the bore at a location intermediate the diaphragm seal and the distal end of the bore; the plunger extending through and being sealingly secured to the gland seal; a fluid transfer opening in the bore between the diaphragm seal and the gland seal; longitudinal displacement of the plunger moving the diaphragm seal to open the bore, the gland seal stretching to accommodate the displacement of and maintain a seal about the plunger, a fluid flow path being established between the open proximal end of the bore and the fluid transfer opening, wherein longitudinal displacement of the plunger towards its first position moves the diaphragm to open the bore. The valve further comprises an extended flange having a surface that is approximately coplanar with a surface of the second position when the plunger is displaced toward the proximal end of the bore, creating a zero dead leg position.

Blood Treatment Systems

In one aspect, a system includes a blood treatment machine; a dialyzer configured to be coupled to the blood treatment machine, the dialyzer including a dialyzer housing defining a blood inlet and a blood outlet; a bundle of hollow fibers within an interior of the dialyzer housing; a pumping device drivable to force blood received from the blood inlet through lumens of the bundle of hollow fibers and out the blood outlet; a dialysate inlet port in fluid communication with a dialysate flow path that includes space in the interior of the dialyzer housing between the bundle of hollow fibers; and a dialysate outlet port in fluid communication with the dialysate flow path. The system further includes a fluid conditioning system configured to (i) prepare and supply fresh dialysate to the dialyzer via the dialysate inlet port, and (ii) receive spent dialysate from the dialyzer via the dialysate outlet port, recycle the spent dialysate, and supply the recycled dialysate to the dialyzer via the dialysate inlet port.

System and method for valve control

A system including a flow control assembly. The system may include a flow regulating shunt system, for various purposes such as a use as a hydrocephalus shunt. The flow control assembly may be controlled according to selected parameters and methods. These include controlling microelectromechanical (MEMS) system to control a pressure in the flow control assembly.

NEEDLELESS CONNECTOR WITH COMPRESSIBLE VALVE

Needleless connectors are described. An example needleless connector includes a housing and a compressible valve. The housing may define an internal cavity and may include a body section having a first port and one or more internal contact tabs and a base section having a valve mount and a second port. The compressible valve may be disposed within at least a portion of the internal cavity and be movably retained within the housing. The compressible valve may include a flange portion for securing the compressible valve within the housing. A central longitudinal axis of the housing may be defined by a coaxial arrangement of the first and second port. The one or more internal contact tabs may be arranged to contact an outer side surface of the flange portion such that a radial force substantially orthogonal to the central longitudinal axis is provided for securement.
