Rapid-Induction Sinter Forge for Roll-to-Roll Continuous Manufacturing of Thin Films
A method of and apparatus for sinter forging a precursor powder to form a film may reduce or eliminate the stress in the film and may facilitate processing of continuous length of films such as ceramic films for use in batteries. The precursor powder can be provided on a substrate and is simultaneously heated and pressed in a pressing direction parallel to a thickness of the film so as to sinter and densify the precursor powder to form the film in a sinter forging area. Notably, in a plane perpendicular to the pressing direction, there are no lateral constraints on the sinter forging area or the material received therein.
Composite Materials with Adjustable Spectral Properties
Composite materials with adjustable spectral properties comprised of IR-reflecting micro-domains overlaying an IR-transparent elastomeric matrix, and capable of dynamically controlling IR radiation transmission are described, as well as methods of fabrication thereof. Systems with capabilities to regulate IR radiation (including heat) transmission based thereon, and methods of regulating IR radiation transmission (including thermal regulation) using the same are also provided.
Methods for fiber reinforced additive manufacturing
A three-dimensional geometry is received, and sliced into layers. A first anisotropic fill tool path for controlling a three dimensional printer to deposit a substantially anisotropic fill material is generated defining at least part of an interior of a first layer. A second anisotropic fill tool path for controlling a three dimensional printer to deposit the substantially anisotropic fill material defines at least part of an interior of a second layer. A generated isotropic fill material tool path defines at least part of a perimeter and at least part of an interior of a third layer intervening between the first and second layers.
POLYCARBONATE SHEET PRESS-FORMED BODY PRODUCTION METHOD
A method for producing a press-molded body of a polycarbonate sheet including resin layers (A) and (B) respectively containing a polycarbonate resin, and a high hardness resin (B) and a hard coat layer (C) sequentially stacked on at least one surface of the resin layer (A). The method includes pre-heating the polycarbonate sheet to a temperature between a glass transition point of the resin layer (A)−45° C. or higher and the glass transition point or lower; locating the pre-heated polycarbonate sheet between an upper and lower die of a mold, wherein a time period after the pre-heating is finished until the polycarbonate sheet is located between the upper and lower die of the mold is 90 seconds or shorter; and clamping the mold to press the upper and lower die to obtain the press-molded body of the polycarbonate sheet.
PRODUCTION METHOD FOR HEAT-RESISTANT RESIN COMPOSITION
A method for manufacturing a heat resistant resin composition having superior dispersibility of maleimide-based copolymer, the method including: a melt-kneading step to melt and knead a maleimide-based copolymer (A) and at least one resin (B) selected from the group consisting of ABS resin, ASA resin, AES resin, and SAN resin with an extruder; wherein: a ratio of a melt viscosity of the maleimide-based copolymer (A) with respect to a melt viscosity of the resin (B) obtained with a shear rate of 120/sec and a cylinder temperature of a kneading unit of the extruder is 1.0 or higher and lower than 3.4, is provided.
IV membrane attachment systems and methods
An intravenous delivery system may have a liquid source containing a liquid, tubing, and an anti-run-dry membrane positioned such that the liquid, flowing form the liquid source to the tubing, passes through the anti-run-dry membrane. The anti-run-dry membrane may be positioned within an exterior wall of a drip unit, and may be secured to a seat of the exterior wall by an attachment component. The attachment component may have various forms, such as a secondary exterior wall that cooperates with the exterior wall to define a drip chamber, a washer positioned such that the anti-run-dry membrane is between the washer and the seat, and an adhesive ring formed of a pressure sensitive adhesive and secured to the anti-run-dry membrane and the seat via compression. Interference features may protrude inward from the exterior wall or outward from the anti-run-dry membrane to help keep the anti-run-dry membrane in place.

PHOTOCURABLE PIEZOELECTRIC COMPOSITES AND USE THEREOF IN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
Parts made by additive manufacturing are often structural in nature, rather than having functional properties conveyed by a polymer or other component present therein. Printed parts having piezoelectric properties may be formed using compositions comprising a plurality of piezoelectric particles and a polymer material comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer and at least one photocurable polymer precursor. The at least one photocurable polymer precursor may undergo a reaction in the presence of electromagnetic radiation, optionally undergoing a reaction with the piezoelectric particles, in the course of forming the printed part. The piezoelectric particles may be mixed with the polymer material and remain substantially non-agglomerated when combined with the polymer material. The compositions may define a form factor such as a composite filament, a composite pellet, or an extrudable composite paste, which may be utilized in forming printed parts by extrusion and layer-by-layer deposition, followed by curing.
