The present invention relates to a motor vehicle luminous device including at least one first portion that is transparent to at least one laser beam, the portion having at least one first polymer material, and at least one second portion that absorbs the laser beam and is transparent to at least some of the visible spectrum, including at least one second polymer material, the second portion being laser welded to the first portion.

EXPANDABLE, RESIN FILLED FASTENER, FASTENER SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR COMPOSITE STRUCTURES

A fastener for improved electrical contact with a composite structure and improved distribution of electric current to the composite structure. The fastener includes an elongated shaft having a first end with a head portion, a second end with a threaded portion, and a shaft body therebetween. At least one feed channel extends from an opening at the threaded portion, through the shaft body, and terminates proximal to the head portion. The shaft body radially expands upon pressure injection of a resin filler into the feed channel, when the fastener is installed in a corresponding fastener hole formed in the composite structure. Upon radially expanding, the outer surface of the shaft body makes contact with an inner hole surface of the corresponding fastener hole, resulting in the fastener providing electrical contact with the composite structure and providing distribution of electric current.

Method of making a flexible magnetized sheet
09802353 · 2017-10-31 · ·

A method of making a flexible magnetized sheet is provided. The method may comprise the steps of (1) using cold extrusion to produce a highly viscous fluid magnetizable sheet, (2) passing the sheet through a magnetic field to create an uncured magnetized sheet, and (3) curing the sheet with electron beam curing. The fluid mixture may comprise magnetizable particles with a random charge orientation and an acrylic resin. The components of the mixture are cool when passed through an extrusion die. The extruded fluid sheet allows for the sheet to be magnetized and then, instead of curing by cooling, cured by the bombardment of electrons via an electron beam (EB) generator. The method can eliminate the heat of extrusion and can allow for more freedom of orientation because the sheet does not cure until it reaches the electron beam curing station.

An inductor includes a support having first and second coils formed on first and second surfaces thereof, respectively; a body embedding the support therein so that end portions of the first and second coils are exposed through first and second surfaces of the body opposing each other, and including a first magnetic part disposed in cores of the first and second coils and on upper and lower surfaces of the first and second coils, respectively, and second magnetic parts disposed on upper and lower surfaces of the first magnetic part, respectively; and first and second external electrodes formed on outer surfaces of the body to be electrically connected to the end portions of the first and second coils, respectively. The second magnetic part has a content of a hardening accelerator greater than that of the first magnetic part.

Thermally conductive ceramic-polymer composite and method of preparing the same

Provided are a thermally conductive ceramic-polymer composite in which thermoplastic polymers form a matrix, and planar fragments of thermally conductive ceramic or thermally conductive ceramic powder is uniformly dispersed on a grain boundary between thermoplastic polymer particles, thereby forming a thermal pathway, wherein the thermoplastic polymer particles are formed in a faceted shape, and the average size of the planar fragments of thermally conductive ceramic or thermally conductive ceramic powder is smaller than 1/10 of that of the thermoplastic polymer particles, and a method of preparing the same. Accordingly, since dispersion and interfacial affinity of a thermally conductive ceramic filler are maximized, excellent electrical insulation and excellent thermal conductivity can be exhibited even with a small content of the thermally conductive ceramic filler.
