HYBRID METAL AND COMPOSITE POLYMER WHEELS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES
Presented are hybrid metal and fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite wheels for vehicle wheel assemblies, methods for making/using such wheels, and motor vehicles equipped with such wheels. A wheel for a motor vehicle wheel assembly includes a wheel face with multiple spokes that are circumferentially spaced about and project radially outward from a central hub. The central hub rotatably attaches to the vehicle's body, e.g., via a corner module. The wheel face is fabricated, e.g., as a one-piece structure, from an FRP material. A wheel barrel, which circumscribes the wheel face, includes an annular rim that mounts thereon an inflatable tire. The wheel barrel is fabricated, e.g., as a one-piece structure, from a metallic material. Multiple overmold through holes and/or inset tabs are circumferentially spaced about the annular rim. The FRP material extends through and/or surrounds the overmold through holes/inset tabs and thereby mounts the wheel face to the wheel barrel.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A POLYMER COATED METAL STRIP AND POLYMER COATED METAL STRIP PRODUCED THEREBY
A method for producing a polymer coated metal strip in a continuous coating line, including the subsequent steps of: laminating a thermoplastic polymer film onto at least one side of a metal strip to produce a polymer coated metal strip; post-heating the polymer coated metal strip to temperature sufficiently high to melt the thermoplastic polymer film to reduce orientation and crystallinity of the thermoplastic polymer film to target value; cooling the post-heated polymer coated metal strip; in-line illuminating the laminated polymer film with near-infrared light having one or more or all wavenumbers between 3500 and 9000 cm.sup.−1; in-line acquiring back-scattered near-infrared light with a near-infrared spectroscopy detector; calculating near-infrared spectrum from the back-scattered near-infrared light; comparing the calculated near-infrared spectrum to a reference material near-infrared spectrum to determine Conformity Index as measure of the laminated polymer film degree of crystallinity and/or molecular orientation.
VACUUM DESORPTION, IMPREGNATION AND CURING SYSTEM, VACUUM DESORPTION DEVICE, AND VACUUM DESORPTION PROCESS FOR PROTECTIVE LAYER OF MAGNETIC POLE
A vacuum desorption, impregnation and curing system, a vacuum desorption device and a vacuum desorption process for a protective layer of a magnetic pole are provided. Before injection of an impregnation liquid, vacuum desorption is performed on a sealed system formed by a magnetic yoke and a vacuum bag. A functional relationship about a vacuum degree or pressure in the sealed system is established so as to control the procedure of the vacuum desorption. Parameters in the functional relationship include an average suctioned gas volume flow of a vacuum pump, duration of vacuumization, an initial pressure in the sealed system, as well as an initial volume of the sealed system. With the functional relationship for the vacuum impregnation and curing system and the vacuum impregnation and curing process, a vacuum desorption standard is provided, a desorption time may be grasped better, and mutual verification effect is formed in conjunction with the detected pressure.
Injection Molding Systems and Methods
Techniques are described for injection molding. When material inside a cavity of a tool is solidified into a molded part, the tool imparts a finished surface onto the part, including sidewalls with a zero or low-draft angle. To allow separation from the cavity without using sleeves or sliders, the cavity is widened, just prior to the part being ejected. The tool is made from metal with a high coefficient of thermal expansion, so the size of the cavity can be manipulated using temperature control. Heat applied to an outer portion of the metal surrounding the cavity pulls the metal away from the part creating an air gap within the cavity. Carefully applied cooling to an inner portion of the metal blocks the heat and keeps the surface temperature under control, which preserves the finished surface on the part. When the air gap allows, the part releases from the cavity with the finished surface intact.
APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATED ENCAPSULATION OF MOTOR ROTOR CORE WITH MAGNET STEEL
An apparatus for automated encapsulation of motor rotor core with magnet steel is introduced. The apparatus includes at least one encapsulation unit, a plastic granule feeding device, a waste removing device, a conveyance device and a control device. Under a coordinated control of the control device, a rotor core feeding mechanism of the encapsulation unit feeds rotor cores to a plastic dispensing mechanism in cycles, the plastic granule feeding device separates, outputs and dispenses plastic granules, so that they are arrayed before being dispensed onto the rotor cores, and the conveyance device conveys plastic granules and moves the waste removing device to carry waste to a waste removal zone. With these arrangements, it is able to realize automated feeding of rotor cores, automated feeding of plastic granules and automated removal of waste to achieve completely automated rotor core encapsulation operation while enables mass production of motor rotor cores.
Biocompatible component with structural reinforcement
A structural reinforcement and biocompatible pump head for a pump includes a reinforcement structure having a plurality of ports and fluid pathways therein. The fluid pathways in the reinforcement may be coated or lined with a biocompatible material to form a biocompatible pump head useful for liquid chromatography and other analytical instrument systems. The biocompatible material may be injection molded into the fluid pathways of the reinforcement structure and may be machined after core pins are removed to obtain a desired surface finish and/or size of the biocompatible fluid pathways of the pump head.

METAL RIB OVERMOLDING JOINING
Metal rib overmolding joining including creating geometrical features in reinforcements for interconnecting a three-dimensional metal reinforcement to a metal base plate of an overmolding part in order to transfer load forces. Interlocked reinforcement is pre-assembled or assembled in an injection molding tool. Geometric features are positioned and joined creating a connection geometry that is overmolded. The joints created between the metal reinforcements are done without a welding process.
