Biaxially oriented UV-resistant, single- or multilayer polyester film with at antireflective coating
The present, invention relates to a highly transparent, biaxially oriented, UV-resistant polyester film which has, at least on one side, a coating that reduces reflection of visible light. The film of the invention is suitable for the production of energy-saving sheet materials for greenhouses, in particular for cultivation of plants with high light requirement, e.g. tomatoes. The film has specific transparency properties and high UV resistance. The invention further relates to a process for the production of the polyester film, and also to use of the film in greenhouses.
OPTICAL COMPONENT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING OPTICAL COMPONENT
An optical component includes: a first layer made of a first material having a first refractive index, the first layer including a first principal surface and a second principal surface opposite to the first principal surface; and a second layer made of a second material having a second refractive index different from the first refractive index, the second layer including a third principal surface and a fourth principal surface opposite to the third principal surface, and the first layer and the second layer are stacked such that the second principal surface and the third principal surface are in contact. A lens is formed on the first principal surface of the first layer, and a vortex profile is formed on the third principal surface of the second layer.
INJECTION MOULDING OF OPTICAL COMPONENTS
A method for injection moulding an optical component (20), e.g. a cover for a luminaire, with an incorporated optical function, the component (20) comprising an injection moulded body (18) and at least one optically functional relief structure (4) applied thereto, the relief structure (4) forming or contributing to the optical function of the component (20) to be moulded, wherein the method comprises: (i) providing an insert (2) comprising the said optical structure (4) in the form of an open-face relief structure (4) provided on a face, surface or portion of the insert (2), (ii) mounting the insert (2) inside a mould cavity (11) in which the component (20) is to be moulded, with the open-face relief structure (4) facing and at least partially abutting a surface portion of the mould cavity (11), and (iii) rear-injection moulding a body (18) of the component (20) within the mould cavity (11) so as to incorporate the insert (2) in the component body (18), wherein the said method is carried out with parameters selected and/or controlled such that during the injection moulding step (iii) the temperature at or on the face, surface or portion of the insert (2) provided with the relief structure (4) remains below the lowest of the glass transition temperature, melting temperature and temperature of onset of thermal decomposition of the material of that face, surface or portion of the insert (2).
PLASTIC WAVELENGTH SHIFTING FIBER AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD
A plastic wavelength shifting fiber includes a core containing a fluorescent agent having a peak of a fluorescence spectrum in a wavelength range of 430 to 550 nm, and a cladding covering an outer peripheral surface of the core and having a refractive index lower than that of the core. The number of carbonyl bonds in the fluorescent agent is one or smaller.
PVB FILM FOR HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD), FORMING MOLD AND FORMING METHOD THEREOF
A PVB film for HUD, a forming mold and a forming method thereof are presented. The accuracy error of HUD imaging achieved by the PVB film for HUD is 0.1 mrad. The forming mold includes an upper mold and a lower mold, the two of which can form an enclosed mold cavity when clamped together, wherein protective films are disposed on inner surfaces of the upper mold and the lower mold, respectively, for supporting PVB material and preventing the PVB material from bonding with the upper mold and the lower mold, and wherein shapes of the protective films match shapes of the upper mold and the lower mold.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CHANGING A REFRACTIVE PROPERTY OF AN IMPLANTABLE INTRAOCULAR LENS
A method of altering a refractive property of a crosslinked acrylic polymer material by irradiating the material with a high energy pulsed laser beam to change its refractive index. The method is used to alter the refractive property, and hence the optical power, of an implantable intraocular lens after implantation in the patient's eye. In some examples, the wavelength of the laser beam is in the far red and near IR range and the light is absorbed by the crosslinked acrylic polymer via two-photon absorption at high laser pulse energy. The method also includes designing laser beam scan patterns that compensate for effects of multiphone absorption such as a shift in the depth of the laser pulse absorption location, and compensate for effects caused by high laser pulse energy such as thermal lensing. The method can be used to form a Fresnel lens in the optical zone.
Composition, Injection Molded Article Made Therefrom and Process to Make an Injection Molded Article
A composition including (a) propylene/ethylene interpolymer having a density from 0.860 to 0.870 g/cc; (b) a propylene-based polymer selected from the group consisting of a homopolymer polypropylene, a random propylene/-olefin interpolymer and any combination thereof and wherein the propylene-based polymer has a density 0.885 g/cc; (c) a plasticizing agent; and (d) a third polymer selected from the group consisting of the following (i) a styrenic ethylene/butylene triblock copolymer having a Tg (rubber block) greater than, or equal, 40 C., (ii) less than, or equal to, 15 wt %, based on the weight of the composition, of an ethylene/-olefin/diene interpolymer, or an ethylene/propylene copolymer, (iii) an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, and (iv) any combination thereof is provided. Further provided is an injection molded article comprising the composition and a process for making an injection molded article.
REFRACTIVE INDEX-MATCHED ADDITIVES FOR PHOTO-CURABLE COMPOSITIONS
This disclosure describes a refractive index-matched photo-curable composition containing a photo-curable resin, and a refractive index-matched additive, in which a ratio of a refractive index of the additive to a refractive index of the photo-curable resin ranges from about 0.8:1 to about 1.2:1. Also disclosed herein is an additive-manufacturing process, including the steps of delivering the refractive index-matched photo-curable composition onto a working surface to obtain a pre-polymer deposit on the working surface, and applying photons to the pre-polymer deposit to obtain a polymer in the form of a section plane of a component. Also disclosed herein are a method for increasing the curing rate of a photo-initiated polymerization, and a method for improving the mechanical properties of a composite material.
LED light fixture and unitary optic member therefor
A unitary optic member for directing light from a plurality of LED light sources on a board beneath the optic member which has a plurality of lens portions surrounded by and interconnected by a non-lens portion. The optic member being formed by a plurality of layers with layer-to-layer interface bonding between adjacent layers and comprising an asymmetric light-receiving inner-surface defining a pair of cavities, a portion of the inner surface which defines one of the cavities is at least partially formed by an innermost layer of the plurality of layers, at least a portion of another of the plurality of layers extending inwardly between the pair of cavities and being bonded to the innermost layer.
