The present invention relates to an article suitable to act as a thermal switch device, the article having a surface resistance of more than 10.sup.5 ohms and formed from a polymer composition comprising from 50 to 99.9 wt % relative to the total weight of the polymer composition, of a polymer being selected from an amorphous polymer having a glass transition temperature Tg, a semi-crystalline polymer having a melting temperature Tm or a mixture thereof, and from 0.1 to 50 wt % relative to the total weight of the polymer composition, of a conductive material, wherein the surface resistance of the article is divided by at least 10, preferably by at least 100, when said article is submitted for a determined period of time of less than 5 minutes to a temperature of switch i) ranging from Tg+10 C. to Tg+250 C. if the polymer composition comprises an amorphous polymer, or ii) ranging from Tm80 C. to Tm+250 C. if the polymer composition comprises a semi-crystalline polymer.

A method of manufacturing a foam having a Poisson's ratio which varies across at least a region of the foam in a gradient distribution involves the steps of: a) providing a housing defining an internal space having an inlet aperture and an outlet aperture; b) providing an open-cell foam of a size and shape configured to fit inside the internal space of the housing; c) positioning the foam inside the internal space of the housing; d) establishing a flow of air through the foam via the inlet and outlet apertures; e) heating the foam to a predetermined temperature while maintaining the flow of air through the foam; and f) subsequently cooling the foam while continuing to maintain the flow of air through the foam. A foam of such a type is also presented.

The present invention provides a semi-aromatic polyamide molding composite material that can be used for producing an LED display screen light source reflection support. Generally, by selecting a semi-aromatic polyamide resin having a specific repeating unit, and enabling the crystallization peak width at half maximum ?T.sub.1/2 to be 4-11? C., the whiteness to be less than 26.5, the reflectivity under a 460 nm light source to be less than 6% etc., the semi-aromatic polyamide molding composite material has the advantages of reduced blue light, high contrast ratio and high gray scale, and can meet requirements for the packaging process and long-term reliability. The package product can be used for manufacturing high-contrast LED display screen light source refection supports for use in multiple environments.
