VIBRATION ISOLATING AND DAMPING MEMBER AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A vibration isolating and damping member that is excellent in mechanical properties such as high-temperature durability, is excellent in reusability, and is capable of reducing manufacturing costs, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. The vibration isolating and damping member is formed of polyurethane, a polyol component of the polyurethane includes a polyester-based polyol excluding a short-chain polyol, an isocyanate component of the polyurethane contains 1,5-naphthalenediisocyanate as a main component, and the vibration isolating and damping member is formed of a foam of a thermoplastic urethane composition having an NCO index of 0.9 to 1.04.

Compositions for forming rotationally molded (rotomolded) parts, methods for forming the rotomolded parts, and the rotomolded parts are provided. An exemplary rotomolding composition includes a virgin resin, including a polyethylene polymer, and a postconsumer recycle (PCR) resin.
FOAMABLE THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITIONS FOR 3D PRINTING
A method for 3D printing a patient-specific bone implant having variable density, in various aspects, comprises: (1) providing a thermoplastic polymer composition comprising: (A) between about 20% and about 50% bioactive agent by weight; (B) between about 0.5% and about 10% chemical foaming agent by weight; and (C) balance structural polymer by weight; (2) receiving, by computing hardware, a scan of a bone, the scan comprising at least a 3D image of the bone and radiodensity data for the bone; and (3) causing, by the computing hardware, a 3D printer to form the patient-specific bone implant from the 3D image using the thermoplastic polymer by modifying a 3D printing temperature of the 3D printer during printing of the patient-specific bone implant such that each portion of the patient-specific bone implant is produced at a temperature that corresponds to a desired density defined by the radiodensity data for the bone.
System for producing a lightweight thermoplastic composite sheet
A thermoplastic composite sheet may be composed of a polymer material matrix and a lightweight material that is disposed throughout the polymer material matrix. The polymer material matrix may extend continuously throughout a length, width, and thickness of the thermoplastic composite sheet. The polymer material matrix may be a fully polymerized thermoplastic material. The lightweight material may be fully saturated by the thermoplastic material of the polymer material matrix. The thermoplastic composite sheet may include between 50 and 99 weight percent of the thermoplastic material and between 1 and 50 weight percent of the lightweight material. The thermoplastic composite sheet may be free of reinforcing fibers.

A device (e.g., an article of athletic gear) comprising a post-molded expandable component, which is a part of the device that is configured to be expanded or has been expanded after being molded. This may allow the post-molded expandable component to have enhanced characteristics (e.g., be more shock-absorbent, lighter, etc.), to be cost-effectively manufactured (e.g., by using less material and/or making it in various sizes), and/or to be customized for a user (e.g., by custom-fitting it to the user).

Method of manufacturing a stiff engineered composite
The method of making a compressed biocomposite body includes compressing a mass of biocomposite material comprised of discrete particles and a network of interconnected glucan-containing mycelia cells in the presence of heat and moisture into a compressed body having a density in excess of 18 pcf. Compression may take place batch wise in a press or continuously in a path of narrowing cross-section defined by a series of heated rollers.
Polyethylene films and methods of making the same
A film, preferably, a multi-layered film, including a polymer composition, wherein the polymer composition includes: within a range from 1 wt % to 25 wt % of a cyclic olefin copolymer based on the weight of the polymer composition, and within a range from 75 wt % to 99 wt % (the remainder of material) of a polyethylene based on the weight of the polymer composition, wherein the cyclic olefin copolymer has a glass transition temperature (T.sub.g) of at least 80.degree. C. The films may be used in shrink packaging application.
Dual Component LLDPE Copolymers with Improved Impact and Tear Resistance, and Methods of Their Preparation
Disclosed are ethylene polymer compositions containing a homogeneously-branched first ethylene polymer component and 15-35 wt. % of a homogeneously-branched second ethylene polymer component of higher density than the first ethylene polymer component. The ethylene polymer composition can be characterized by a density from 0.912 to 0.925 g/cm.sup.3, a ratio of Mw/Mn from 2 to 5, a melt index less than 2 g/10 min, and a CY-a parameter at 190° C. from 0.35 to 0.7. These polymer compositions have the excellent dart impact strength and optical properties of a metallocene-catalyzed LLDPE, but with improved machine direction tear resistance, and can be used in blown film and other end-use applications. Further, methods for improving film Elmendorf tear strength also are described.
Low density microspheres
Low-density thermoplastic expandable microspheres are disclosed. Various low-density structures, in particular, sandwich panels, based on foam prepared from the low-density microspheres, are also disclosed. Process of preparing low-density polymeric microspheres, per se, and the corresponding low-density structures, based on the microsphere foam, are also disclosed.
