Method for preparing tissue, particularly adipose tissue, for transplantation from lobular fat extracted by liposuction
A method of preparing adipose tissue for transplantation, from lobular fat extracted, for instance, by liposuction, said fat consisting of a fluid component comprising an oily component, a blood component and/or sterile solutions and of a solid component comprising cell fragments, cells and one or more cell macroagglomerates of heterogeneous size, characterized in that it includes at least one step of washing the cell aggregates carried out at the same time as a step of separating the fluid component, in emulsion form, from the solid component.
Injection device for soft-tissue augmentation fillers, bioactive agents and other biocompatible materials in liquid or gel form
Described herein are injection devices capable of automatically injecting substances into the soft tissue of a patient. The devices can inject low to high viscosity materials at predetermined, user selected injection rates, allowing the operator more control than a traditional syringe. The devices can allow mixing of more than one substance and/or reconstitution of a solid substance for injection. The injection devices described herein can allow the operator to easily inject one or more low to high viscosity liquid or gel soft-tissue augmentation fillers, one or more drugs, one or more other biocompatible materials, or combinations thereof.
Apparatus and system for controlling permeation and diffusion of solute and/or solvent locally
A permeation apparatus comprises an aspiration tube; an injection tube; and a water-absorbing cover member for covering at least a distal end of the injection tube and a vicinity of the distal end. The aspiration tube is configured to aspirate a fluid flowing from the water-absorbing cover member into the aspiration tube.
Surgical cassette apparatus
A surgical cassette arrangement is provided. The arrangement includes a flow selector valve configured to operate with a handpiece to selectively irrigate and aspirate fluid with respect to an ocular region. The flow selector valve includes at least three ports, with one port fluidly connectable to the handpiece. The arrangement further includes a reservoir fluidly connected to a second port of the flow selector valve via a first flow segment and configured to receive fluid from the flow selector valve, and a collector fluidly connected to a third port of the flow selector valve via a second flow segment and configured to receive fluid from the flow selector valve and from the reservoir. The flow selector valve selectively controls irrigation and aspiration flow to the handpiece and ocular region.
Transplanted cell containment and nutrition device
The disclosure provides an implanted device that promotes the protection and maintenance of transplanted cells in a host body. The implanted device provides the transplanted cells with a safe, nutritious environment for survival and removes waste products generated by the cells.
Oncodialysis system and method for personalized cancer vaccine and blood purification
A system for preparing a cancer vaccine (and optionally purifying the blood) has a blood filtration system, controlled by a processing unit, for filtering exogenous blood plasma to isolate tumor cells, tumor stem cells and tumor breakdown products. The blood filtration system filter includes multiple layers having differently sized apertures to retain differently sized materials (from among (i) tumor cells of different sizes, (ii) tumor stem cells and (iii) tumor DNA or other breakdown products. A device directs electromagnetic radiation at the isolated tumor cells, tumor stem cells and tumor DNA (or other breakdown products). The electromagnetic radiation may cause at least one of the (i) isolated tumor cells, (ii) isolated tumor stem cells, (iii) isolated tumor protein or breakdown products of the cells such as DNA to have a coagulated outer layer or a coagulated outer surface. The electromagnetic radiation may have a UV wavelength. A conical coil improves blood flow rate uniformity.
Catheter for cell infusion and method of pressure regulation
A catheter has a proximal portion of relatively larger central lumen diameter and outer diameter, and a distal portion of relatively smaller central lumen diameter and outer diameter, the two portions being integral with one another so that cells delivered into the central lumen of the proximal portion will flow through and exit the central lumen of the distal portion, encountering a constriction at the junction of the two portions, for infusion into body tissue at a predetermined target site when the catheter is inserted into a designated natural body vessel or duct leading to the target site. The cells are delivered in a fluid under pressure through a central lumen of the catheter to exit distally from the lumen at the target site, and meander of exiting fluid pressure from a predetermined value is minimized by adjusting the fluid pressure at the point of entry into the catheter's central lumen accordingly.
SAMPLE CASSETTE FOR COLLECTING TISSUE SAMPLES FROM A FLUID STREAM, THE CASSETTE INCLUDING PLURAL CATCH TRAYS FOR RETAINING PLURAL SAMPLES
A cassette for retrieving plural tissue samples from a fluid stream. The cassette includes a bypass conduit and plural voids. A catch tray is removably seated in each of the voids. A fitting extends from the cassette. The cassette has an outlet opening through which a suction is drawn. The cassette also has a valve. The valve directs the fluid stream from the fitting so the fluid stream flows through the bypass conduit or through one of the voids in which a catch tray is seated.
METHOD OF IMPLANTATION OF CELL AGGREGATES AND TISSUE FRAGMENTS
In a method for implantation of a physically stabilized aggregate of living cells or tissue fragment is injected into a channel provided in soft tissue filled with an aqueous gel. Also discloses are methods of stabilizing such aggregates and fragments and of forming such channel in soft tissue as well as means for carrying out the methods.
DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR MICRONIZING TISSUE
Disclosed herein are devices for micronizing an aspirate. Also disclosed herein are systems for micronizing an aspirate. The devices and systems may include a liposuction syringe for liquefying fat and/or an incubator for expansion of cells. Devices and systems may also include a handpiece with a handle, a motor disposed within the handle, a blade positionable within a syringe barrel containing an aspirate, the blade rotationally coupled to the motor by a drive shaft, and an end cap positioned along the drive shaft between the blade and the handle, the end cap including an opening through which the drive shaft extends, the end cap configured to seal the syringe barrel.
