POLYKETONE MATERIALS FOR NANO-MOLDING TECHNOLOGY
20210122093 · 2021-04-29 ·

Disclosed herein are plastic-metal hybrid materials that are formed by injection molding a plastic composition comprising a polyketone onto a surface of a metal part, the surface having nanometer-sized pores, micron-sized pores, or both, the pores having been formed by chemical etching or by electrical oxidation and surface coating. Also provided are methods for forming the plastic-metal hybrids, components for electronic devices comprising the hybrid materials, and electronic devices that include a component comprising a plastic-metal hybrid material as disclosed.

Molded article of fiber-reinforced resin and compression molding method therefor

A molded article of a fiber-reinforced resin contains at least a bundled aggregate [A] of discontinuous reinforcing fibers and a matrix resin [M], wherein the average layer thickness h in the molded article of the fiber-reinforced resin is 100 μm or less and the CV value of the average layer thickness h is 40% or less; and a compression molding method therefor. It is possible to reliably and greatly reduce the occurrence of stress concentration in the molded article and to thereby achieve higher mechanical properties and further reduce variation in the mechanical properties.

COMBINATION LURE
20210137084 · 2021-05-13 ·

A lure includes one or more cores having a surface shape and coloration configured to represent an anatomy of a food for a game fish with one or more outer portions of translucent material disposed thereabout. The outer portion is at least partially flexible with one or more outer fins and/or tails configured to cause the lure to move through water in conformance with a mode of transit. The core presents a three-dimensional appearance of a schooling baitfish, a bottom baitfish, a crustacean, an amphibian, a worm, a grub, an insect, a spider, a leech, or another creature that is attractive to fish. The core may include a surface shape and/or coloration that represents a mouth, an eye, a fin, and/or one or more gills or opercles. The core may be formed around a rigid object such as a hook, a line leader, or a weight.

A method of forming a printed structure is disclosed. The method may include printing layers of a printed structure and incorporating an element within the printed structure. The element may be removed in order to form tunnels within the printed structure. In some embodiments the element may be removed and reused in the formation of additional printed structures. The element may also be retained to form a composite printed structure.

Poly(phenylene ether) composition and article
10913850 · 2021-02-09 · ·

A composition for injection molding includes specific amounts of a poly(phenylene ether), a first hydrogenated triblock copolymer, a second hydrogenated triblock copolymer, a polypropylene, a polybutene, an ethylene/1-octene copolymer, and a flame retardant. At least one of the first and second hydrogenated triblock copolymers has a pre-hydrogenation vinyl content of 50 to 100 mole percent, based on moles of incorporated polybutadiene. Injection molded articles prepared from the composition include cable connectors and their parts.

TISSUE-MIMICKING HYDROGEL COMPOSITIONS FOR BIOFABRICATION

An extrudable hydrogel composition useful for making a three-dimensional organ construct includes a cross-linkable prepolymer, a post-deposition crosslinking group, optionally, an initiator that catalyzes the reaction between the prepolymer and said the crosslinking group; live cells (e.g., plant, animal, or microbial cells), optionally at least one growth factor, and optionally water to balance. Methods of using the same and products so made are also described.

MICRONEEDLE SYSTEM AND METHOD OF FABRICATION OF AN INGESTIBLE STRUCTURE

A microneedle system includes an ingestible structure and one or more microneedle units secured to a surface of the structure. Each microneedle unit has a plurality of barb members extending from the outer surface of a microneedle. The microneedle unit is secured to the structure by a displacement member, which displaces the microneedle unit when in a released state. The displacement member may be held in a compressed state by a dissolvable coating.

Stretchable, tough, and self-healing elastomer and applications thereof

Various embodiments are directed to apparatuses and methods involving an elastomer material comprising a flexible polymer backbone with a particular ratio of at least first moieties and second moieties. The first moieties provide a first number of dynamic bonds resulting from interactions between the first moieties and the second moieties provide a second number of dynamic bonds resulting from interactions between the second moieties, the second number of dynamic bonds having a weaker bonding strength than the first number of dynamic bonds. The elastomer material, based on the ratio of the first moieties and second moieties, exhibits autonomous self-healing, a particular toughness, and is stretchable.

Multilayer cast films with reduced blocking and methods of making same

Multilayer cast films with an ethylene/-olefin copolymer core layer, and inner and outer layers containing low density polyethylene homopolymers, and multilayer cast films with an ethylene polymer core layer, and inner and outer layers containing ethylene/-olefin copolymers, are described. These cast films have a reduced tendency to block, and are useful in various food packaging applications.
