Extruded polycarbonate sticker for spacing wood
A sticker for spacing wood is extruded from an alloy that includes polycarbonate resin and polysulfone resin. The sticker can have a variety of different configurations, including a top surface that includes contact points that have an area substantially smaller than the area of the top surface, a single or multiple internal longitudinal hallow chambers separated by multiple reinforcing members, longitudinal external grooves that allow airflow, lateral external grooves that intersect the longitudinal external grooves, curved sides for a version where the stickers are placed manually, and substantially straight sides for a version where the stickers are placed by a machine. A method for manufacturing the sticker includes pulling an extrusion with a puller that includes a plurality of teeth that provide a first plurality of lateral grooves running substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the extrusion in a top and bottom surface of the extrusion.
Automotive fuel lines including a polyarylene sulfide
A fuel line comprising a thermoplastic composition is described. The thermoplastic compositions exhibit high strength and flexibility and can be used to form one or more layers of single layer or multi-layer fuel lines. Methods for forming the thermoplastic compositions are also described. Formation methods include dynamic vulcanization of a composition that includes an impact modifier dispersed throughout a polyarylene sulfide. A crosslinking agent is combined with the other components of the composition following dispersal of the impact modifier. The crosslinking agent reacts with the impact modifier to form crosslinks within and among the polymer chains of the impact modifier. The compositions can exhibit excellent physical characteristics at extreme temperatures.
Methods and apparatus for adjusting blood circulation
Embodiments of the invention include a method and a device for increasing blood flow and controlling the temperature of a mammal by applying a desired pressure to extremities of a mammal. The device generally includes a pliant body element that is adapted to receive a portion of an extremity of the mammal therein, and then apply a pressure to a portion of the extremity when a pressure is provided to a region in which the extremity is positioned within the pliant body element. By evacuating the region in which the extremity is enclosed, a contact surface area between the extremity of a mammal and the pliant body element is increased, due to the external atmospheric pressure acting on the pliant body element against the skin of the extremity of the mammal. The application of pressure assures that sufficient contact and thermal heat transfer (heating or cooling) is provided to the extremity of the mammal.
Composite sporting equipment
A sporting equipment is disclosed. The sporting equipment may include a barrel, an action connected to a base end of the barrel, and a stock connected to the action opposite the barrel. At least two of the barrel, the action, and the stock are fabricated from a plurality of fibers.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING POLYMER COMPOSITES COMPRISING AGRO-WASTE PARTICLES
A method of manufacturing a polymer composite comprising a polymer phase and agro-waste particles dispersed in the polymer phase, wherein the polymer phase is preferably obtained from polyolefin containing waste plastics, and the agro-waste particles are preferably obtained from date palm wood flour particles. Various combinations of embodiments are provided.
RESIN COMPOSITION FOR AN EXTERIOR MATERIAL OF VEHICLE AND MOLDED PRODUCT FOR VEHICLE INCLUDING THE SAME
Disclosed is a resin composition for an exterior material of a vehicle. The resin composition may include an amount of about 40 to 90 parts by weight of polypropylene resin having a melt index of about 70 to 110 g/10 min; an amount of about 10 to 40 parts by weight of an olefin block copolymer including an ethylene-based repeating unit and a -olefin-based repeating unit having 4 to 30 carbon atoms; an amount of about 10 to 20 parts by weight of needle-shaped inorganic filler having an aspect ratio of about 5 to 10; and an 0.01 to 5 parts by weight of laser-transmitting black colorant, wherein all the parts by weights based on 100 parts by weight of the resin composition. In particular, an average transmittance may range from about 0.01 to about 1% or less in a wavelength of about 380 to 700 nm, and an average transmittance may range from about 15% or greater and less than about 100% in a wavelength of about 800 to 1200 nm.
MULTILAYER DENTAL APPLIANCES AND RELATED METHODS AND SYSTEMS
A dental appliance for positioning a patient's teeth includes a removable orthodontic tooth positioning appliance having teeth receiving cavities shaped to directly receive at least some of the patient's teeth and apply a resilient positioning force to the patient's teeth. The appliance includes a hard polymer layer having a hard polymer layer elastic modulus disposed between a first soft polymer layer having a first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and a second soft polymer layer having a second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. The hard polymer layer elastic modulus is greater than each of the first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and the second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. At least one of the first soft polymer layer and the second soft polymer layer has a flexural modulus of greater than about 35,000 psi.
POLY(PHENYLENE ETHER) COMPOSITION AND ARTICLE
A composition for injection molding includes specific amounts of a poly(phenylene ether), a first hydrogenated triblock copolymer, a second hydrogenated triblock copolymer, a polypropylene, a polybutene, an ethylene/1-octene copolymer, and a flame retardant. At least one of the first and second hydrogenated triblock copolymers has a pre-hydrogenation vinyl content of 50 to 100 mole percent, based on moles of incorporated polybutadiene. Injection molded articles prepared from the composition include cable connectors and their parts.
MANUFACTURING CONTROLLED DISPERSION HIGH CONCENTRATION NANOPARTICLES IN NANOCOMPOSITES
Nanocomposites comprising a polymer matrix having a controlled dispersion of nanoparticles at high concentrations are described. The nanoparticles can be materials that absorb radiation. Thus, the nanocomposites can be of use in radiation shielding. Also described are methods of preparing the nanocomposites and multifunctional structures, such as sandwich panels, comprising the nanocomposites.
Sealing assembly for a vehicle and method of manufacturing a sealing assembly
A sealing assembly for a vehicle comprises a sealing body extruded from an elastomeric material formed from an ethylene propylene diene monomer and having a base and first and second legs spaced from one another extending from the base. The base and the legs define an interior surface and a first channel for receiving a panel, and further define an exterior surface opposite the interior surface. The sealing body defines an overmold region opposite the first channel extending along a portion of the exterior surface of the sealing body. The sealing assembly further comprises a bonding layer of a first thermoplastic vulcanizate co-extruded onto the overmold region of the sealing body, and a molded layer of a second thermoplastic vulcanizate molded onto the bonding layer with the molded layer defining a second channel for receiving a fixed window of the vehicle.
