A method for producing a composite component, which has a first section and a second section connected to the first section, the first section including a metallic material, the second section including a plastic, the first section having a first base region and projections provided on the first base region, and the projections provided on the first base region being anchored in the second section in order to bring about the connection between the first section and the second section, includes: manufacturing the first base region of the first section; creating the projections directly on the first base region by way of an additive manufacturing method; and connecting the second section to the first section.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A FRAME COMPONENT FOR A DOOR FRAME STRUCTURE OF AN AIRCRAFT, FRAME COMPONENT, AND DOOR FRAME STRUCTURE
20190168891 · 2019-06-06 ·

A method for producing a frame component for a door frame structure of an aircraft. A connecting zone is generated on a first and a second assembly surface of a connecting component in each case by generating a surface texture on the assembly surfaces, wherein the connecting component is formed from a metal material. The assembly surfaces of the connecting component are placed against a door frame member and against an attachment member, wherein the door frame member and the attachment member are each formed from a fiber-reinforced thermoplastics material. Furthermore, the connecting component and the door frame member are welded, and the connecting component and the attachment member are welded. A frame component and a door frame structure are also described.

A ball joint is disclosed. The ball joint comprises: a ball stud comprising a ball; a bearing supporting the ball of the ball stud by surrounding same; a case bushing accommodating the bearing and one portion of the ball stud; a ball joint mounting case made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), accommodating the case bushing and coupling to a suspension arm; and a case cap accommodated inside the case bushing.

BOLSTER FOR FRONT END MODULE STRUCTURE OF A VEHICLE AND METHOD OF MAKING A BOLSTER
20190144044 · 2019-05-16 · ·

A bolster assembly of a front end module for a vehicle that includes a composite structure having a first plurality of openings, a metal insert having a first end, a second end, and a second plurality of openings, a plurality of rivets that are inserted into the first plurality of openings of the composite structure and the second plurality of openings of the metal insert to fix the composite structure to the metal insert, the first plurality of openings being aligned with the second plurality of openings, and an injected plastic structure having a plurality of ribbing feet that holds together the composite structure and the metal insert such that the first end and the second end of the metal insert is in direct contact with the injected plastic structure to increase a shearing resistance of the bolster assembly.

INSULATING ELEMENT
20190126855 · 2019-05-02 · ·

An insulating material for insulating a structural element in a vehicle including a support element with a first surface and a second surface, and an expandable material which is arranged on the support element. The expandable material is arranged here on a first sub-region of the first surface of the support element, and a second sub-region of the first surface is free from expandable material. The first sub-region is configured here in such a manner that the first surface of the support element is completely covered with expanded material after expansion of the expandable material.

BODY MEMBER
20190118869 · 2019-04-25 ·

A body member (1; 41) has at least one outer sheet (2), an inner sheet (3) and a reinforcing structure (10) in a cavity (6) bounded by the inner sheet (3) and the outer sheet (2). The reinforcing structure (10) has at least three ribs (11-15) that extend from the outer sheet (2) toward the inner sheet (3). An expanded structural foam connects at least one of the two outer ribs (11, 15) to the inner sheet (3).

Hybrid structure and methods for forming the same
10265914 · 2019-04-23 · ·

A method for forming a hybrid structure is provided. The method includes applying a sealant to a first component fabricated from a first material, coupling an isolation sheet to the sealant, and coupling a second component to the isolation sheet. The isolation sheet and the second component are fabricated from a second material that is different than the first material to facilitate preventing formation of a galvanic cell within the hybrid structure.

NET SHAPED SUBSTRATE MATERIAL FOR SUBSTRATE JOINT

An assembly includes an upper substrate, a lower substrate, and a self-piercing rivet. The lower substrate defines a preformed interior cavity and a preformed exterior profile adjacent the interior cavity to define a variable thickness wall. The self-piercing rivet extends through the upper substrate and into the preformed interior cavity of the lower substrate.

Method for reinforcing a subframe
10252754 · 2019-04-09 · ·

The present invention relates to a method for reinforcing a vehicle subframe comprising one or more hollow sheet metal parts, comprising: determining at least one area on a hollow sheet metal part of a subframe with respect to specified conditions; preparing a reinforcement part which is insertable into the hollow sheet metal part at the determined area, wherein the reinforcement part comprises: a carrier having at least one hollow chamber; and a pre-foam of a foam material, which is able to expand after being heated, the pre-foam being isolated from the at least one hollow chamber and distributed at least partly on the periphery of the carrier; and installing the reinforcement part within the hollow sheet metal part at the determined area and heating the pre-foam such that it expands. The present invention also relates to a vehicle subframe reinforced by said method.
