Apparatus for performing peritoneal ultrafiltration
An apparatus for ultrafiltration of a patient being overhydrated due to congestive heart failure, comprising a tube set including a connector (21) for connection to a patient line (3) for access to the peritoneal cavity of the patient. A flow pump (41-43) is arranged for addition and removal outflow and inflow (recirculation) of fluid from/to the peritoneal cavity. An osmotic agent peristaltic pump (16) is arranged for replenishment of glucose solution to the fluid added to the peritoneal cavity for promoting ultrafiltration. The glucose is replenished intermittently for keeping a concentration of glucose substantially constant in the peritoneal cavity. The flow pump comprises a pressure chamber (43) with rigid walls and a flexible pump bag (41) arranged therein. An air pump (45) pressurizes the chamber for outflow of fluid from the peritoneal cavity by a sub pressure and inflow of fluid to the peritoneal cavity by an overpressure, which pressures are maintained within safe limits.
Treadmill having fragrance assembly
A treadmill may include two separate left and right belts rotating around two sets of rollers, four legs having an adjustable height via air suspension to customize an inclination of the treadmill, a thermoelectric assembly, a fragrance assembly having a rotating fragrance cartridge to emit various smells toward a user of the treadmill, a display on which exercise programs are played, and an attachment module having a dispensing tray on which treats are dispensed. A handle of the treadmill may have a sensor to sense a height and front-rear position, and a belt divider provided between the left and right belts may have position or proximity sensors to sense a left-right position. An inclination of the treadmill may be automatically adjusted according to positions detected by the sensors, and the fragrance assembly, attachment module, and inclination may be automatically operated in accordance with an exercise program played on the display.
BREAST PUMP DEVICE
A breast pump device (1) comprises an expression kit (2), a vacuum unit (3), and a conduit (5) for establishing an air path between an air outlet (27) of the expression kit (2) and an air inlet (35) of the vacuum unit (3). The expression kit (2) is equipped with a barrier portion (26) for preventing milk leakage from the expression kit (2) towards the hose (5) and the vacuum unit (3). In case some droplets of milk enter the barrier portion (26) and/or drawn through the barrier portion (26) by an ongoing pumping action, aspects of the behavior of the motor (32) for driving the pump (31) are influenced, and the insight that this happens is used for terminating operation of the motor (32) as soon as a too large deviation of one or more operational characteristics of the motor (32) with respect to a reference is found.
Spring bridge for a spring bridge breathing bag plate system of a closed-circuit respirator, spring bridge breathing bag plate system as well as closed-circuit respirator
A spring bridge (40), for a spring bridge breathing bag plate system (80) of a closed-circuit respirator (100), includes a spring bridge carrier (42) for the arrangement of at least one spring element (82) of a spring bridge breathing bag plate system (80) and at least one fastening element (44) for holding the spring bridge (40) at the closed-circuit respirator (100). The at least one fastening element (44) is a rotating element and/or a sliding element for the rotatable and/or sliding movement of the spring bridge carrier (42) at and relative to the closed-circuit respirator (100). A spring bridge breathing bag plate system (80) is provided for a closed-circuit respirator (100) as well as for a closed-circuit respirator (100).
SPHERULE INSERTION TOOLS
Described are surgical tools to facilitate the proper implantation beneath the outer layer of tubular anatomical structures, or ductus, to include vessels, the trachea, esophagus, gut, and ureters, as well as the outer layer or within the parenchyma of organs, glands, or other tissue, of medicinal, magnetically susceptible, magnetized, and/or radiation-emitting spherules sized in proportion to the substrate structure. Spherule insertion tools expedite insertion transluminally to implant the wall surrounding a lumen making possible therapy and/or extraluminal stenting which leaves the lumen clear for subsequent passage. Spherules can also be introduced into deeper tissue through a ‘keyhole’ incision at the body surface. For evolving methods calling for the placement of numerous ‘seeds’ and/or boluses, eliminated are the need for more extensive incision with increased trauma, procedural duration, and healing time. Avoidance of the lumen is augmented by placing the magnets subcutaneously rather than using a magnetized perivascular collar, or stent-jacket.
Inhalation device
The present invention provides for the integration of drug dispersion methods into a drug or medicine delivery system. The drug dispersion methods used include shear (e.g., air across a drug, with or without a gas assist), capillary flow or a venturi effect, mechanical means such as spinning, vibration, or impaction, and turbulence (e.g., using mesh screens, or restrictions in the air path). These methods of drug dispersion allow for all of the drug in the system to be released, allowing control of the dosage size. These methods also provide for drug metering, fluidization, entrainment, deaggragation and deagglomeration. The present invention also provides for the integration of a drug sealing system into the device. The drug sealing system provides a way of blocking the migration of drug from one area of the package to another. The drug seal system can also provide a method of tightly containing the drug until the package is opened, of directing airflow through the package and of managing and containing the drug during the package/device manufacturing process.
Multiple fluid delivery system with multi-use disposable set and features thereof
A multi-use disposable set (MUDS) has at least one syringe having a proximal end and a distal end spaced apart from the proximal end along a longitudinal axis. The MUDS further has a plunger reciprocally movable within a syringe interior between the proximal end and the distal end. A manifold is in fluid communication with the distal end of the at least one syringe. At least one valve is in fluid communication with the syringe interior. The at least one valve is operable between a filling position for filling the syringe interior with fluid and a delivery position for delivering the fluid from the syringe interior. At least one connection port is in fluid communication with the manifold and the syringe interior when the at least one valve is in the delivery position. A multi-fluid delivery system having the medical connector and MUDS is also provided. Various features of the MUDS system are also described.
Method and Device for Assisting and Enforcing a breathing process
The present invention relates to the art of automatic regulation of pulmonary devices for imitating, assisting and/or enforcing the breathing process by converting Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM) or a similar device to enhance both phases of breathing: inhalation and exhalation while applying a variable pressure during the breathing process. It also replaces a mechanical chest compression to the sternum area for automatic pneumatic compression, and it could be complimented with the use of a Tens unit, can be used for extended period of time with a high level of reliability, simplicity, efficacy and low cost. The unique filtration system's goal in this invention is safety of the treating patient as well as assisting personnel. This portable and light device is recommended to be used as a resuscitator for the patients with mild to extremely suppressed or without respiratory drive. The source of power can be electrical, battery operated, manual or a combination thereof.
