Methods of joining textiles and other elements incorporating a thermoplastic polymer material
09682512 · 2017-06-20 · ·

A yarn or thread may include a plurality of substantially aligned filaments, with at least ninety-five percent of a material of the filaments being a thermoplastic polymer material. Various woven textiles and knitted textiles may be formed from the yarn or thread. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be thermal bonded to other elements to form seams. A strand that is at least partially formed from a thermoplastic polymer material may extend through the seam, and the strand may be thermal bonded at the seam. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be shaped or molded, incorporated into products, and recycled to form other products.

FABRIC HAVING A WATERPROOF BARRIER

Provided herein are ecologically friendly waterproof fabrics that include a base fabric having a body-facing surface and an outward-facing surface, and a hydrophobic, waterproof barrier disposed on the outward-facing surface of the base fabric. The base fabric may be a wicking fabric or may be treated with a compound that enhances wicking, and the hydrophobic, waterproof barrier may include a plastic polymer, polyurethane, polyethylene, and/or polytetrafluoroethylene. The waterproof fabrics also may include an abrasion-resistant coating and/or a PFC-free durable water repellant (DWR) agent disposed on an outward-facing surface of the hydrophobic, waterproof barrier, and one or both of the abrasion-resistant coating and/or PFC-free DWR agent may be discontinuous. Also provided are methods of making a waterproof fabric.

REMOVABLE DRAPE FASHION SYSTEM
20250057261 · 2025-02-20 ·

A fashion system including a shaped garment comprising a base material and a removable drape is provided herein. The removable drape may be attached to the base material such that corresponding shapes of the base material and the removable drape cooperate to hold the removable drape in place. The base material may be formed using a geometric cutting technique and the removable drape may be formed using a thermoforming technique to create a complementary drape system.

Fluorine-containing mixture material and fluorine-containing super-oleophobic microporous membrane using same as raw material, and preparation method therefor and use thereof

This disclosure provides a fluorine-containing mixture and a fluorine-containing super-oleophobic microporous membrane using the fluorine-containing mixture as a raw material, as well as preparation methods and applications for the fluorine-containing mixture and the fluorine-containing super-oleophobic microporous membrane. The fluorine-containing mixture of the present disclosure comprises, by weight percentage, the following components: Component A: 50%90%; Component B: 3%25%; Component C: 0%35%; Component D: 0%3%; wherein Component A comprises high molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene homopolymer or copolymer dispersion resin; Component B comprises one or more fluorine-containing alkyl acrylate monomers; Component C comprises one or more fluorine-free acrylates; Component D comprises high temperature free radical initiator. There's no need to add inflammable or explosive lubricating oil, making the process highly safe; and the obtained fluorine-containing super-oleophobic microporous membrane has high waterproof, air-permeable, oil-resistant and washable performance, in line with the needs of a new generation of waterproof and air-permeable protective clothing.

METHOD FOR EMBOSSING A FABRIC PRODUCT WHILE THE PRODUCT IS SITUATED IN PACKAGING
20170008220 · 2017-01-12 ·

A product including a fabric layer is situated in a plastic bag such that at least a part of the fabric layer is aligned with a portion of a plastic sheet of the bag. An embossing tool is used to press the product and impress the embossing pattern into the fabric product, through the plastic sheet, as well as in the plastic sheet itself, at the same time. Perforations may be created by the embossing tool in certain sections of the product, such as the non-folded sections, and not in other sections. The perforations become an array of holes to create a mesh-like affect by stretching the fabric as the product is removed stretched from the package, used and washed. The tool also presses the plastic sheets together to seal the product in the package.

THERMOPLASTIC NON-WOVEN TEXTILE ELEMENTS
20250163623 · 2025-05-22 · ·

A non-woven textile may be formed from a plurality of thermoplastic polymer filaments. The non-woven textile may have a first region and a second region, with the filaments of the first region being fused to a greater degree than the filaments of the second region. A variety of products, including apparel (e.g., shirts, pants, footwear), may incorporate the non-woven textile. In some of these products, the non-woven textile may be joined with another textile element to form a seam. More particularly, an edge area of the non-woven textile may be heatbonded with an edge area of the other textile element at the seam. In other products, the non-woven textile may be joined with another component, whether a textile or a non-textile.
