ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND LIQUIDS FOR AEROSOLIZING AND INHALING THEREWITH
An electronic device includes a mouthpiece, a bladder, and a mesh assembly having a mesh material and a piezoelectric material. The mesh material is in contact with a liquid of the bladder. The mouthpiece, the bladder, and the mesh assembly are located in-line along a longitudinal axis of the device between opposite longitudinal ends of the device, with the mesh assembly extending between and separating the mouthpiece and the bladder. A liquid-filled cartridge also is disclosed for use with an electronic device for delivery of a substance into a body through respiration includes a liquid container; and a liquid contained within the container for aerosolizing and inhaling by a person using the electronic device. The liquid includes a plurality of nanoparticles in a nanoemulsion, the nanoparticles including the encapsulation of the substance to be delivered into the body through respiration. The nanoemulsion preferably is produced using a microfluidizing machine.
PUMP CASSETTE AND METHODS FOR USE IN MEDICAL TREATMENT SYSTEM USING A PLURALITY OF FLUID LINES
A fluid handling cassette, such as that useable with an automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) cycler device or other infusion apparatus, may include a generally planar body having at least one pump chamber formed as a depression in a first side of the body and a plurality of flowpaths for a fluid that includes a channel. A patient line port may be arranged for connection to a patient line and be in fluid communication with the at least one pump chamber via at least a first one of said flowpaths, and an optional membrane may be attached to the first side of the body over the at least one pump chamber. In one embodiment, the membrane may have a pump chamber portion with an unstressed shape that generally conforms to the depression of the at least one pump chamber in the body and is arranged to be movable for movement of the fluid in a useable space of the at least one pump chamber. One or more spacers may be provided in the at least one pump chamber to prevent the membrane from contacting an inner wall of the at least one pump chamber. The patient line, a drain line, and/or a heater bag line may be positioned to be separately occludable in relation to one or more solution lines that are connectable to the cassette.

A method includes flowing spent dialysate through a spent dialysate line of a dialysis system into a fluid receptacle fluidly coupled to the spent dialysate line, reacting the spent dialysate with a chemical reagent contained within the fluid receptacle to generate a reacted sample, emitting electromagnetic radiation through the reacted sample using an emitter; detecting a level of one or more waste products present in the spent dialysate using a spectroscopy sensor positioned proximate the fluid receptacle.

A dialysis fluid system includes a dialysis fluid inlet; a dialysis fluid outlet; a pump positioned and arranged to pump dialysis fluid through the dialysis fluid inlet and the dialysis fluid outlet; and an inductive heater located between the dialysis fluid inlet and the dialysis fluid outlet, the inductive heater including a fluid flowpath positioned and arranged to receive non-heated dialysis fluid from the dialysis fluid inlet and to output heated dialysis fluid to the a dialysis fluid outlet, a conductive heater element located within the fluid flowpath so as to be or act as a secondary coil of a transformer, and a primary coil of the transformer located outside of the fluid flowpath and positioned so as to magnetically induce a current into the conductive heater element, causing the conductive heater element and surrounding fluid to heat.

A device for ocular surgery includes a surgical handpiece including a power cord and an aspiration needle for removing ocular material from an eye, and co-extruded tubing. The tubing includes an aspiration tube for receiving the ocular material removed from the eye by the surgical handpiece, an irrigation tube integrally formed with the aspiration tube for supplying irrigation fluid to the surgical handpiece, and a ridge defined along at least a majority of a length of the co-extruded tubing, the ridge defining a groove for receiving the power cord of the surgical handpiece.

The blood component sampling cassette includes a cassette main body having a plurality of flow paths including an introduction line, a blood component transfer line and a retransfusion line. The cassette main body includes a first sheet and a second sheet which are formed of a soft material compatible with autoclave sterilization. The first sheet and the second sheet are overlaid in a thickness direction and bonded to each other. A plurality of flow paths is formed between the first sheet and the second sheet.
Drug delivery device with gear module and related method of assembly
Drug delivery devices and related methods of assembly are disclosed. The drug delivery device may include a main housing having an interior surface defining an enclosed space, and an exterior surface releasably attachable to a patient. A container may be disposed in the enclosed space and include a reservoir containing a drug and a stopper. A drive assembly may also be disposed in the enclosed space and configured to move the stopper through the reservoir to expel the drug from the reservoir. The drive assembly may include a rotational power source and a gear module. The gear module may include a mounting plate and a plurality of gears rotatably connected to the mounting plate. Furthermore, the mounting plate may be separate from the main housing.
WEARABLE AND PORTABLE DEVICE FOR RECIRCULATING FLOW DIALYSIS
The invention relates to a dialysis device that provides recirculating flow dialysis in a wearable and portable format. It uses an exchangeable purification unit holding a volume of dialysate and/or a sorbent system for the in-situ regeneration of dialysate. The invented dialysis device comprises a carrier that is mounted on a replaceable cartridge. The carrier holds the electronics, user-interface, actuators and sensors. It actuates, controls and monitors the dialysis operation. The cartridge is a replaceable part that is connected to the patient via a flexible tubing. It consists of a reusable housing with a memory chip and holds a disposable inlay containing the purification unit with fluid lines, connectors, dialysate and/or sorbents in combination with a nanofilter. The cartridge is intended for use during the day, as a wearable system. The cartridge can be enlarged with an extension set to offer more capacity. The extended cartridge is intended to be used during the night as a bedside device.
