Gas recirculation system and method
Gas recirculation systems for use in endoscopic surgical procedures including a gas recirculation pump are disclosed. The gas recirculation pump may work in conjunction with an insufflator used to inflate a patient's peritoneal cavity during surgery. The gas recirculation system may recirculate a high flow rate of gas from and to the patient while filtering particulate matter out of the gas and while maintaining an adequate moisture content in the gas. The gas recirculation pump may include a disposable pump cartridge releasably connected to a pump motor. A controller may detect a fault or safety condition in the gas recirculation system based on the load placed on the pump motor.
Two-way communications in a medical device
A system for providing continuous positive air pressure therapy is provided. The system includes a flow generator, a sensor, and a computing device. The computing device is configured to control operation of the flow generator based on sensor data. The computing device is further configured to display, on a display device, one or more questions relating to demographic and/or subjective feedback; responsive to displaying the one or more questions, receive one or more inputs indicating answers to the one or more questions; transmit the answers to a remote processing system; receive, from the remote processing system, settings determined based on the transmitted answers; and adjust control settings of the system based on the received settings.
Device with chemical reaction chamber
A device is disclosed. The device includes a housing that defines a chamber. The chamber is to be at least partially filled with an electrolyte material. The device also includes a plurality of electrodes that are at least partially embedded in the housing and exposed to the chamber. The device further includes an access port that provides fluid communication between an interior of the housing and the outside environs.
Methods and systems for adaptive base flow
This disclosure describes systems and methods for providing novel adaptive base flow scheduling during ventilation of a patient to optimize the accuracy of estimated exhaled tidal volume. Further, this disclosure describes systems and methods for providing novel adaptive inspiratory trigger threshold scheduling during the novel adaptive base flow scheduling.
Systems and methods for estimating flow in positive airway pressure therapy
A system adapted to regulate pressure of a flow of breathable gas generated by a motorized blower fan. The system may include a flow estimation analyzer adapted to receive a speed signal representative of a speed of the fan and estimate a parameter representative of the flow of breathable gas (e.g., a flow rate of the breathable gas). The parameter may be determined by inputting the speed signal into a function (e.g., an equation, matrix, or lookup table), which may be selected from a plurality of predetermined functions. The predetermined function may be selected based upon a specific characteristic of the speed signal as identified at the time of estimation of the parameter representative of flow.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MANAGING CHEST OR WOUND DRAINAGE
Devices and methods for managing chest or wound drainage are disclosed where in one embodiment, the system generally comprises a chest tube configured for insertion at least partially within a body of a subject, a drainage tube fluidly coupled with the chest tube, a reservoir fluidly coupled with the drainage tube, a pump in communication with the reservoir, and a controller in fluid communication with the drainage tube. The controller may be configured to determine a readiness for removal of the chest tube from the body based upon one or more removal parameters which are obtained over a period of time via the controller.
A DEVICE FOR A RESPIRATION ARRANGEMENT
The present invention relates to a device for a respiration arrangement. The device comprises a conduit having a first opening connectable to an air/gas source such as a resuscitation bag, and a second opening connectable to a face mask, such that a fluid pathway along a longitudinal direction of the conduit is established from the first opening to the second opening. The device further comprises a flow constriction, arranged in the conduit which upon fluid flow through the conduit results in a pressure difference over the flow constriction, the flow constriction at least partly comprising a laminar flow section, wherein the device further comprises at least one pressure connecting port arranged in pressurized communication with fluid between the flow constriction and the first opening, and wherein the pressure connecting port is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the conduit.
APPARATUS FOR HUMIDIFYING A RESPIRATORY GAS
An apparatus is provided to change the absolute humidity of a flow of air for delivery to an entrance of the airways of a patient, the change being compared to the absolute humidity of ambient air. The apparatus has a reservoir configured to hold a volume of liquid. A heating element creates vapour from the liquid. A chamber is provided to mix the flow of air with the vapour. The apparatus has a body having a first wall structure with a chamber inlet port. A closure element having an air inlet port for pneumatically connecting to a source of the flow of air is secured to the body to provide a sealed gas flow path between the air inlet port and the chamber inlet port, and a liquid trap in the gas flow path.
Yarn, detection system, fiber sheet, connector, detection device, and liquid type estimation method
A yarn has a first conductive yarn having conductivity, a first insulating section covering the first conductive yarn and formed of an insulating material having absorbency, and a second conductive yarn having conductivity and disposed on an outer circumferential side of the first insulating section.
PATIENT INTERFACE AND COMPONENT DETECTION, MONITORING AND REPLACEMENT
A method for determining that a patient interface component comprising a vent has been replaced between therapy sessions of treatment of sleep disordered breathing, the method comprising: acquiring or receiving first vent flow rate data representing one or more estimated first vent flow rates of gas through a first vent of a patient interface in use during a first therapy session; acquiring or receiving second vent flow rate data representing one or more estimated second vent flow rates of gas through a second vent of a patient interface in use during a second therapy session after the first therapy session; and identifying, by comparison of the second vent flow rate data to the first vent flow rate data, a difference in resistance to flow through the first vent than through the second vent indicating that the second vent is not the same vent as the first vent.
