The resin composition enables: even in the case in which a film formation temperature is high, excessive elevation of torque to be inhibited with occurrence of neck-in during film formation being prevented; a molded product superior in appearance characteristics to be formed continuously for a long time period, with defects such as fish eyes and streaks being prevented; and further a thermoformable multilayer structure to be produced continuously for a long time period, the thermoformable multilayer structure being capable of providing a thermoformed product superior in appearance characteristics. A resin composition containing: an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) having an ethylene unit content of 20 to 60 mol %; and a boron compound (B), the boron compound (B) including a free boric acid (C), with a content of the boron compound (B) with respect to the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) being 100 ppm or more and 5,000 ppm or less in terms of orthoboric acid, and a proportion of the free boric acid (C) in the boron compound (B) being 0.1% by mass or more and 10% by mass or less in terms of orthoboric acid.
Injection moulding tool with adjustable core centring device
An injection moulding tool with at least one cavity for producing thin-walled, container-like injection-moulded products, in particular cups, tubes, tube heads, vials, bottle blanks or syringes. The injection moulding tool comprises a die holding plate, which has at least one cavity-forming die; a core holding plate, which has at least one core unit with a cavity-forming core; at least one stripping ring for stripping the injection-moulded product off the at least one core, with the at least one stripping ring arranged between the core holding plate and the die holding plate; and at least one adjustable core centring device for the fine alignment of the at least one core in the at least one die. The stripping ring is held in a floating manner in a stripping plate, which is arranged between the die holding plate and the core holding plate; and the at least one adjustable core centring device is arranged between the core unit and the core holding plate.
Method of and apparatus for manufacturing a plastic container having a curled rim
A method of manufacturing a plastic container having a curled rim (320) comprises the steps of providing a sheet of plastic material; drawing a portion thereof into a mould (120) to form a bottom and wall (310) of the container, leaving a surrounding portion of material to form a rim (320) of the container; cutting the rim loose from a remaining portion of material; and curling the rim. In the curling step, an inner part of the rim is supported by a supporting member while an outer part is pressed by a pressing member (230) moving relative to the supporting member for the rim to be bent around the supporting member.
Layered structures
Disclosed, among other things, are ways to manufacture layered structures. In one embodiment, a foaming process may produce layered structures in reduced density plastics with or without integral skins. In another embodiment, a foaming process may produce deep draw structures in reduced density plastics with or without integral skins. In yet another embodiment, a foaming process may utilize additives, blends, or fillers, for example. In yet another embodiment, a foaming process may involve saturating a semi-crystalline polymer such as Polylactic Acid (PLA) with high levels of gas, and then heating, which may produce a reduced density plastic having high levels of crystallinity. These processes may be used to generate products with layered structures.
Method for manufacturing a plastic stemmed glass
A method for manufacturing a glass with a stem or with a base made of a plastic material, the glass including a receiving portion mounted over a base or over a stem, the method being implemented by a rotary tooling comprising a plurality of workstations and at least one mold wherein the method includes the following steps: a) forming of the receiving portion of the glass on at least one first workstation called injection station; b) overmolding of the stem or of the base over the receiving portion, in order to form a glass with a stem or with a base, the overmolding being carried out on at least one other workstation called overmolding station; c) ejection of the glass thus formed on the overmolding station or on another workstation called ejection station.
Polymeric replacement for a glass drinking container
A polymeric replacement vessel, or container, for glassware and glass containers and a method of making the same. polymeric drinking container simulates a glass drinking container having a glass drinking container volume. The polymeric drinking container comprises a base and an enclosed wall composed of the polymer. The wall is formed with the base and extends from the base while defining an opening opposite the base. The enclosed wall includes an inside surface and an outside surface. The base and enclosed wall form a polymeric drinking container volume made of the polymeric material. This polymeric drinking container volume is equal to the glass component drinking container volume plus an amount equal to the glass component drinking container volume multiplied times the ratio of the specific gravity of the glass to the specific gravity of the polymer.
INJECTION MOLD AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A DOUBLE WALLED DRINKING VESSEL, THE DOUBLE WALLED DRINKING VESSEL COMPRISING AN OUTER CONTAINER AND AN INNER CONTAINER
An injection mold for producing a double walled drinking vessel includes first and second mold portions. The first mold portion forms a first and second cavities corresponding to the outer shape of the outer container and the outer shape of the inner container, respectively. The first and second cavities are located concentrically with respect to a central axis. An index plate is rotatable and axially movable along the central axis relative to the first mold portion. The index plate includes a first core and a second core. The first cavity has a first cavity injection gate for injecting mold material into the first cavity for forming the outer container. The second cavity has a second cavity injection gate for injecting mold material into the second cavity for forming the inner container. The first cavity has a further injection gate for injecting joint material for joining the outer and inner containers.
