A method for manufacturing a pouch-type secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present invention may include: a first sealing operation of fusing a lead film, which is attached to an electrode lead of an electrode assembly, to a sealing portion of a pouch in which the electrode assembly is accommodated; and a second sealing operation of sealing the sealing portion of the pouch. The first sealing operation may include: a heating process of irradiating with a laser beam a region which is present in the sealing portion of the pouch and corresponds to the lead film, thereby heating the lead film and melting a resin layer of the region; and a bonding process of compressing the region, thereby bonding the lead film and the melted resin layer.

The electronics compartment cover has a first transparent material configured to transmit the first laser emission toward the first protruding shelf and the cell receptacle region cover has a second transparent material configured to transmit the first laser emission or a second laser emission toward the second protruding shelf.

Yet further disclosed is a battery case obtained by using the packaging material for a battery casing. Also disclosed is a method for producing a battery case which includes deep drawing or bulging the packaging material for a battery casing.
Method of edge sealing for secondary lithium battery
A method of edge sealing for a secondary lithium battery, including: (1) drawing a 3D model of a battery edge of a secondary lithium battery, and inputting it into a 3D printer; (2) positioning the secondary lithium battery in a 3D printing area, and fixing a relative position of the secondary lithium battery in the 3D printing area; (3) stimulating, by the 3D printer, the battery edge according to the 3D model and setting a printing path; (4) adding edge sealing glue in a printing head of the 3D printer, the printing head moves according to the set printing path and meantime performs at least one time of printing, so that printed edge sealing glue covers the battery edge; (5) solidifying the edge sealing glue. The method of edge sealing of this application has broader application, which can be applied to batteries of any shape.
Pouch Cell and Method of Forming Same
An electrochemical cell includes a housing, and an electrode assembly disposed in the housing. The electrode assembly comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The housing is formed of a first case half and a second case half. Each case half is formed of a metal foil laminate material and includes a wedge-shaped central recess that is surrounded by a flange. The flange of the first case half is joined to the flange of the second case half along a seal line that surrounds the respective central recesses. The central recesses cooperate to define an interior space of the housing that contains the electrode assembly, and the interior space has the shape of a rectangular prism. The seal line extends along a diagonal of a side of the rectangular prism. A method of forming the housing is described.
