Medical waste management system integrated within a medical facility

A medical waste management system including a boom secured to a fixed structure of a medical facility. A waste container defines a waste volume sized to collect liquid waste material received through a suction line under the influence of a vacuum provided by a vacuum pump. The system may include a service head coupled to the boom and including the waste container. A vacuum port is in fluid communication with the waste volume, and discharge and/or cleaning ports also in communication with the waste volume may be provided. The vacuum pump may be integrated with the medical facility, and the system may include an offload pump Integrated with the medical facility and in communication with the discharge port. The waste container may be supported on a mobile cart configured to be removably coupled with the boom. The system may further include a liquid measuring system coupled to the waste container.

Methods and system for anesthetic vaporizer drop detection

Systems and methods are provided for detecting unacceptable accelerations by an anesthetic vaporizer, such as due to drops and mishandling. In one embodiment, a method for an anesthetic vaporizer comprises determining a quantitative acceleration of the anesthetic vaporizer based on acceleration vectors measured by an accelerometer coupled within the anesthetic vaporizer, and outputting an alert responsive to the quantitative acceleration exceeding an acceleration threshold. In this way, drop-related degradation may be identified in a timely fashion.

A method includes: detecting an alarm event associated with an apheresis system; retrieving a graphical presentation output based on the alarm event detected; and rendering the graphical presentation output to a graphical user interface of the apheresis system. In the method, the alarm event can be related to one or more factors, such as: a temperature; a pressure; a flow rate; a color of fluid; and an excessive amount of received plasma. The alarm event can be detected when one of the factors crosses a threshold.

A Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) device includes a flow generator that generates a supply of pressurized air. The flow generator includes a programmable controller. The programmable controller is adapted to allow continuous access to at least one active operating mode and selective access to at least one dormant operating mode. The programmable controller includes a mode control system adapted to receive a data signal to control the selective access to the at least one dormant operating mode.

Droplet device with inertial filtering

An electronically actuated droplet delivery device includes a housing with an airflow exit at a mouthpiece and an airflow entrance in fluid communication with the airflow exit via an airflow channel. An aperture plate coupled to an electronic actuator energized by a power source produces a droplet plume from a fluid reservoir in fluid communication with the aperture plate. A change of airflow trajectory in the airflow channel and/or a fan provides inertial filtering and removal of droplets in the plume that have a mass mean aerodynamic diameter greater than 5 m.

DROPLET DELIVERY DEVICE FOR DELIVERY OF FLUIDS TO THE PULMONARY SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE

A droplet delivery device, such as for providing aerosol to the respiratory system of an individual via inhalation, including includes an ejector mechanism in fluid communication with a reservoir that provides a constant fluid supply so that the droplet delivery device can be used to administer droplets in the device airflow in multiple orientations.

Droplet delivery device with location control

A method for controlling dosing of droplet delivery device includes providing a droplet delivery device, such as an inhaler, to a user, verifying a location of the user with the droplet delivery device, such as by GPS, and enabling dosing of the drug in droplets ejected from the device based on the verifying of the location of the user.
