Condom Having A Raised Contoured Surface And Method And Apparatus For Manufacturing

Condoms, condom formers, and methods for forming condoms are disclosed. A condom includes an open end, a closed end, a tubular sheath extending from the open end to the closed end, a tip portion adapted to cover a glans of a penis, disposed adjacent to the closed end, and a plurality of raised features disposed on the tubular sheath, having a top surface area and a base surface area, wherein the total raised top surface area is greater than the total base surface area of the condom.

Nitrile rubber condoms and methods of making them

This invention provides a method of making an elastomeric article, and the method comprises dipping a mold into a first dip tank containing a compounded nitrile rubber formulation to produce an elastomeric film layer on the mold, the compounded nitrile rubber formulation comprising nitrile butadiene copolymer; a crosslinking agent; a metal oxide; a vulcanization accelerator; an antioxidant; an alkali agent; and a heat sensitizer; then drying and curing the elastomeric film layer to form the elastomeric article. The heat sensitizer may be an organopolysiloxane. Elastomeric articles prepared according to this invention may have a film thickness in a range of 0.020 mm to 0.050 mm; such films are suitable for medical examination gloves, surgical gloves, or condoms.

A PROCESS OF MANUFACTURING DIPPED LATEX PRODUCTS WITHOUT USING ANIMAL DERIVATIVES AND PRODUCTS THEREOF
20170081484 · 2017-03-23 ·

The present disclosure provides for a process for manufacturing of dipped latex products without using any animal derived ingredients and dipped latex products produced by said process. The disclosed process successfully over comes drawbacks of drop in product yield (due to coagulum formation) and burst pressures caused by absence-of casein in latex formulation. Therefore, the dipped latex products so produced through the process have final composition similar to that of any other dipped latex products with casein except for absence of casein and having 0.8 phr of Sulphur as against 0.6 phr of Sulphur in routine manufacturing. The products also exhibit physical properties similar to that of any other dipped latex products with casein, such as burst pressure and burst volume.

MOLD FOR MAKING A PROPHYLACTIC HAVING A TEXTURED PATTERN
20170014263 · 2017-01-19 ·

A prophylactic device includes a base for receiving a portion of a body, a tip for containing body fluids, and a tubular body in between. The tubular body includes at least one area with a textured pattern, including lines running along the tubular body (e.g., lines running in at least three directions) that form shapes on the tubular body with portions of the lines forming edges of the shapes (e.g., circles, ellipses, polygons, etc.). The textured pattern forms a reinforcing mesh that wraps around the tubular body. A mold can be used for making the prophylactic device, where the mold includes different portions for receiving material(s), and is shaped to form the material(s) into the base, tip, and tubular body of the prophylactic device.

The present invention relates to a method of preparing an elastomeric laminate article, the method comprising: providing a first aqueous coating composition comprising a first polymer and discrete silicon dioxide nanoparticles, wherein the first polymer is a polyurethane; providing a second aqueous coating composition comprising a second polymer; coating a substrate with the first aqueous coating composition to form a first film on the substrate; coating the first film with the second aqueous coating composition to form a second film on the first film; and removing the substrate. In another aspect, the invention relates to an elastomeric laminate article which comprises a plurality of polymeric films and one or more interfaces, wherein each adjacent pair of films defines one of the interfaces, wherein at least one of the plurality of polymeric films comprises a polyurethane, wherein the laminate comprises silicon dioxide nanoparticles, and wherein at least 60 wt % of the silicon dioxide nanoparticles are present at one or more of the interfaces defined at least in part by a polyurethane-comprising film. In both cases the laminate article may be a condom, and the invention further relates to a condom obtained or obtainable by the inventive method.

Moulded polyurethane hydrogels

The technology relates to a method of producing a moulded polyurethane hydrogel, for example a condom. The method involves forming a solution of at least one polyurethane having a molecular weight of between about 40000 to about 500000 in a water:organic polar solvent comprising less than about 40% (v/v) water; applying a layer of the solution to a mould; drying the layer of the first solution to form a polyurethane film on the mould; and contacting the polyurethane film with a swelling agent under conditions such that the film forms a polyurethane hydrogel with a swelling agent content of between about 1% to about 95%.

Pure polyurethane condom having adhesive layer, and preparation method therefor

Disclosed in the present disclosure are a pure polyurethane condom having an adhesive layer, and a method for preparing the condom. The pure polyurethane condom having an adhesive layer at least comprises: a first polyurethane film layer; a polyurethane adhesive layer on the first polyurethane film layer; and a second polyurethane film layer on the polyurethane adhesive layer, wherein the 100% tensile modulus of the polyurethane adhesive layer is 2.5 N/mm.sup.2 or lower, and the structures of the first polyurethane film layer and the second polyurethane film layer are different from that of the polyurethane adhesive layer.
