Gap control via overmold teeth and hard stops
A forceps includes an end effector assembly having a stop and a plurality of overmold teeth within at least one jaw member. One (or both) of the jaw members is moveable relative to the other between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween. One (or both) of the jaw members includes a stop molded within an insulative housing, and an insulator plate with the overmold teeth formed from plastic. The overmold teeth extend through openings within a sealing plate and protrude past the tissue sealing surface of the sealing plate. The stop primarily controls the gap distance between opposing jaw members by bearing most of an applied load and the overmold teeth assist in controlling the gap distance by bearing the remaining applied load.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR POSITIONING A PATIENT'S BODY AND TRACKING THE PATIENT'S POSITION DURING SURGERY
The disclosed system uses a body shape capturing device for acquiring a patient's body shape and a 3D shape generating device for additively manufacturing a patient receiving device that is at least partially adapted to the patient's body shape or at least partially deviates from the patient's body shape bringing the patient's body into a desired shape so that the outer shape of the patient's body during surgery is identical to the outer shape of the body during shape capturing. The patient receiving device comprises at least one tracker element that is detectable by a detection system. The detection system captures data indicating the at least one tracker element's position and/or orientation during surgery enabling, particularly for surgical operations on or in soft tissues with high flexibly and with no specific natural or artificial landmarks, the surgeon to orientate/navigate in live images from the surgical site.
Method of assembling a measurement module for a surgical handpiece system
A method of assembling a measurement module used for bore depth determinations in tissue. The measurement module has a housing. A gear having a plurality of gear teeth is disposed within and rotatably coupled to the housing. The measurement module further includes a bushing and a depth extension member having a plurality of rack teeth extending along a depth extension axis. The depth extension member is disposed within a bore of the bushing and the housing. The rack teeth of the depth extension member are arranged to be engaged by the gear teeth of the gear. The depth extension member is urged toward the gear so that the rack teeth are in meshed engagement with the gear teeth. The bushing is fixed to the housing while the depth extension member is urged toward the gear.
FLEXIBLE TUBE AND PRODUCTION APPARATUS THEREFOR
Provided is a production apparatus capable of producing a flexible tube whose hardness is naturally varied along the length direction thereof. This mixing valve includes: a first valve configured to distribute a first resin to a resin supply path and a resin discharge path; and a second valve configured to distribute a second resin to the resin supply path and the resin discharge path. In the mixing valve, the mixing proportion between the first resin and the second resin is increased or decreased in association with molding of the flexible tube, by changing a distribution ratio of the first resin in the first valve and a distribution ratio of the second resin in the second valve while keeping constant the total of the supply mounts of the first resin and the second resin supplied to a die.
Devices for vascular occlusion
An occlusive device, occlusive device delivery system, method of using, and method of delivering an occlusive device, and method of making an occlusive device to treat various intravascular conditions is described.
Signaling of sterile adapter and tool attachment for use in a robotic surgical system
Generally, a system for use in a robotic surgical system may be used to determine an attachment state between a tool driver, sterile adapter, and surgical tool of the system. The system may include sensors used to generate attachment data corresponding to the attachment state. The attachment state may be used to control operation of the tool driver and surgical tool. In some variations, one or more of the attachment states may be visually output to an operator using one or more of the tool driver, sterile adapter, and surgical tool. In some variations, the tool driver and surgical tool may include electronic communication devices configured to be in close proximity when the surgical tool is attached to the sterile adapter and tool driver.
SUCTION VALVE
A suction valve stem, a suction valve, an endoscopic valve kit, and a method for molding a stem are provided. The suction valve stem includes: a button head, and a stem body connecting to the button head. The stem body includes: an air passage through the center bore, a recessed slot, disposed on the stem body below the button head and above the side opening, a sealing area, disposed on the stem body below the side opening, and a flat, disposed on the stem body. The air passage includes a side opening disposed on side surface of the stem body and a bottom opening disposed at a bottom end of the stem body. The recessed slot is disposed 90 degrees from the side opening. The flat is disposed 90 degrees from the side opening and has a fluid communication to the bottom end of the stem body.
Porous devices and processes for producing same
A method for making a polymer with a porous layer from a solid piece of polymer is disclosed. In various embodiments, the method includes heating a surface of a solid piece of polymer to a processing temperature and holding the processing temperature while displacing a porogen layer through the surface of the polymer to create a matrix layer of the solid polymer body comprising the polymer and the porogen layer. In at least one embodiment, the method also includes removing at least a portion of the layer of porogen from the matrix layer to create a porous layer of the solid piece of polymer.
Articulated tip part for an endoscope
An articulated tip part suitable for an endoscope, where the articulated tip part includes a distal end segment, a proximal end segment and a number of intermediate segments arranged between the distal end segment and the proximal end segment, the segments being joined together to form an articulated assembly of segments, a passage running along the length of the articulated tip part, and a bending element, the bending element being fastened to at least two segments and being arranged along a path which is essentially parallel to a centerline of the articulated tip part.
JAW MEMBER, END EFFECTOR ASSEMBLY, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A JAW MEMBER OF AN ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A jaw member of a surgical instrument includes a structural frame, an insulative spacer supported on the structural frame, an electrically conductive tissue contacting plate supported on the insulative spacer, and a lead wire. The spacer defines a pocket at an upper portion thereof and includes a channel extending from the pocket, through the spacer, to a bottom portion of the spacer. The channel defines a substantially U-shaped configuration having first and second radiused corners at the bottom portion of the spacer. The lead wire is attached to an underside of the plate at an attachment point within the pocket and extends distally from the attachment point into the channel, through the channel, over the first and second radiused corners, and proximally from the jaw member. The lead wire is adapted to connect to a source of energy to energize the plate for treating tissue.
