Giant children's foam blocks molded around a rigid inner core
10201764 · 2019-02-12 · ·

A giant foam building block for children includes an inner core, an outer layer and a barrier skin. The inner core is made of foam or expanded polystyrene having a lower density than the outer layer. The inner core is softer than the outer layer, but both have a hardness less than 20 Shore A. A resin is sprayed onto the inside surface of a mold before the inner core is placed in the mold and the outer layer is molded around the inner core. The outer layer is molded such that an integral skin forms on the inner surface of the mold. The resin attaches to the integral skin and together forms a barrier skin that becomes the outer surface of the block. The block has no covering over the barrier skin. Children are not exposed to the TDI-based foam core which is sealed off by the outer layer.

Method for manufacturing molded article using food waste
10137611 · 2018-11-27 ·

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a molded article using food waste, in which food waste is dried, fractioned and ground, after which the processed food waste is mixed with purified water, a preservative, an aromatic agent and a binding agent comprising a food additive, and the mixture is poured into a fixing mold to be compression-molded into various shapes, e.g., cubes. The molded article can substitute for soaps which have been conventionally used for practicing carving so as to prevent resource waste and environmental contamination. The method for manufacturing a molded article using food waste enables a minimal addition of chemicals during molding so as to provide practice materials which are not harmful to the human body. Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a molded article using food waste, in which cubes are manufactured by using food waste, the cubes are combined to form a big cube, and small cubes are sequentially removed from a big cube consisting of small cubes, thereby enabling a model to be modified at the users convenience.

The plastic composition has a notched izod impact above 12 J/m, a surface energy of at least 40 dyne/cm and, and when the plastic composition is subjected to injection molding, at least one of a tensile strength of above about 2.7 MPa, a tensile modulus of above about 600 MPa, a flexural modulus above about 690 MPa, a flexural strength above about 5.6 MPa, and a Charpy Impact above about 1.5 KJ/m2.

Composite material and method of preparing the same from substantially unsorted waste
09914256 · 2018-03-13 · ·

A composite material having thermoplastic properties and comprising organic matter and optionally one or both of inorganic matter and plastic with unique characteristics is provided. Such a composite material may be prepared from waste such as domestic waste. For preparation of the composite material, waste is dried, optionally particulated. The dried and optionally particulated waste material is then heated, while mixing under shear forces. The composite material is processed to obtain useful articles.

A compression press is provided, comprising: a frame; a movable lid carried by said frame and having an opening extending therethrough; an enclosure carried by said frame and comprising a core movable between a retracted position and an extended position, with said core aligned with the opening in said lid; a first hydraulic stage carried by said frame; and a second hydraulic stage carried by said frame and configured to apply additional pressure on said lid and said core in the extended position within the cavity. The first hydraulic stage is configured to perform the following: move said core from the retracted position to the extended position and move said lid and said core in the extended position to contact a mold having a cavity with material deposited therein, with pressure being applied to said lid and said core in the extended position within the cavity.

FIBERGLASS AND GRAPHENE REINFORCED POLYMERIC BAR AND METHOD OF PRODUCTION THEREOF

The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a reinforced bar made from fiberglass and polymeric resin, the resin being selected from polyester resin and epoxy resin wherein said resin is additionally reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets.

Compression molded double wall blocks for a pallet and associated methods

A compression molding system includes a first extruder to output melted plastic, and a second extruder downstream from the first extruder to mix the melted plastic with wood chips to output a composite material. A transfer valve alternately directs the composite material between inner block molds and outer block molds. Each inner block mold has an inner block press associated therewith to press the composite material into a desired shape of an inner block having an opening on one side. Each outer block mold has an outer block press associated therewith to press the composite material into a desired shape of an outer block having an opening on one side. A press assembly presses one of the inner blocks into the opening in one of the outer blocks to form a double wall block.
