The strainer-cage segments can be sealed along their adjacent sides with the aid of sealing devices so that liquids and solids are effectively prevented from escaping from the gaps between the strainer-cage segments.

Disclosed is a laminated spiral solid-liquid separator with a torsional pendulum motion, the separator comprising fixed rings, movable rings and a screw shaft, wherein the screw shaft is provided with the fixed rings and the movable rings in a staggered arrangement in a radial direction to form a cavity. The fixed gap is formed in a direction intersecting the screw blade.

The juice pack may have edges defining a rectangle with a spout at a first corner and an aperture for suspending the juice pack in the pressing chamber at a second corner that is intersected by a same edge intersecting the first corner.

A juice pressing machine and methods for pressing juice from a foodstuff includes embodiments having a removable pressing chamber and one or more filters which may be assembled and loaded with macerated foodstuff to form thin layers separated by a pressing plate. Once a juicing operation has been completed, the pressing chamber can be removed from the machine for emptying the pressed filters and solids contents therein. The empty pressing chamber may then be rinsed if needed and reattached to the machine for a subsequent pressing operation with newly filled filter(s). The platen may also be easily removed from the machine for cleaning as desired.

A process for producing a substantially dry product, according to various embodiments, may include receiving wet grain at a first screw The process includes receiving the wet grain at a second screw from the first screw. The process includes compressing the wet grain between the first screw and the second screw and dehydrating the wet grain when the wet grain is located within at least one zone of the first screw and the second screw to cause a physical property change to the wet grain.
