VAPORIZATION CONFIGURATIONS FOR BREATHING GASES HUMIDIFIER
A humidification system including a conduit for carrying breathing gases, a pump to pressurize a liquid for injection into breathing gases, a liquid-injection nozzle protruding at least partially into the conduit and configured to inject liquid, pressurized by the pump, into the conduit; and a heated surface protruding into the conduit and positioned to vaporize the liquid injected by the nozzle, wherein the heated surface crosses a flow path of the breathing gases flowing through the conduit.
Ultra rapid cycle portable oxygen concentrator
Lightweight, portable oxygen concentrators that operate using an ultra rapid, sub one second, adsorption cycle based on advanced molecular sieve materials are disclosed. The amount of sieve material utilized is a fraction of that used in conventional portable devices. This dramatically reduces the volume, weight, and cost of the device. Innovations in valve configuration, moisture control, case and battery design, and replaceable sieve module are described. Patients with breathing disorders and others requiring medical oxygen are provided with a long lasting, low cost alternative to existing portable oxygen supply devices.
Oxygen masks
The present disclosure relates to an oxygen mask comprising: a mask body defining a cavity configured to be positioned over the mouth and nose of a patient, an oxygen port formed on the upper half of the mask body, an annular aperture formed on the mask body, and at least one vent port formed on the mask body, wherein each vent port is formed on the bottom half of the mask body in a manner that patient's exhaled gases are directed towards the vent port.
Peritoneal dialysis fluid testing system
The invention relates to a testing system and related methods for detecting peritonitis or infection in peritoneal dialysate removed from a patient. The testing system can include a fluid sensor apparatus in a fluid line of a peritoneal dialysis cycler through which spent peritoneal dialysate can be pumped. The fluid sensor apparatus can detect one or more markers associated with peritonitis or infection.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE CONDITIONING OF CEREBROSPINAL FLUID
Systems and methods for treating biologic fluids are disclosed. Some disclosed embodiments may be used to filter cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from a human or animal subject, heat CSF to a target temperature, cool CSF to a target temperature, apply light treatment to CSF, separate cells via their dielectric properties, apply spiral and/or centrifugal separation, introduce additives to target particles, and/or apply combinations thereof. The method may include the steps of withdrawing fluid comprising CSF, treating the fluid, and returning a portion of the treated fluid to the subject. During operation of the system, various parameters may be modified, such as flow rate.
O2 CONCENTRATOR WITH SIEVE BED BYPASS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
An oxygen concentrator includes one or more adsorbent sieve beds operable to remove nitrogen from air to produce concentrated oxygen gas at respective outlets thereof, a product tank fluidly coupled to the respective outlets of the sieve bed(s), a compressor operable to pressurize ambient air, one or more sieve bed flow paths from the compressor to respective inlets of the sieve bed(s), a bypass flow path from the compressor to the product tank that bypasses the sieve bed(s), and a valve unit operable to selectively allow flow of pressurized ambient air from the compressor along the one or more sieve bed flow paths and along the bypass flow path in response to a control signal. The valve unit may be controlled in response to a command issued by a ventilator based on a calculated or estimated total flow of gas and entrained air or % FiO.sub.2 of a patient.
Systems and methods for determining free plasma hemoglobin
A system is provided for separating a plasma-containing fluid into separated plasma and a concentrated fluid. The system cooperates with a fluid flow circuit including a fluid separation chamber and a plasma outlet line associated therewith for removing separated plasma from the fluid separation chamber. The system includes an optical sensor assembly to monitor the contents of the plasma outlet line and produce an output indicative of the concentration of free plasma hemoglobin in the plasma outlet line. A controller of the system calculates the amount of free plasma hemoglobin in at least a portion of the concentrated fluid based at least in part on the output of the optical sensor assembly. The controller may periodically calibrate the optical sensor assembly by determining an instrument-specific correlation between optic output and free hemoglobin concentration and comparing it to experimentally determined data to ensure continued reliability of the optical sensor assembly.
HEMOSTATIC SPRAY
Proposed is a hemostatic sprayer for stopping a flow of blood from a bleeding portion of the human body, the hemostatic sprayer including a powder casing inside which an accommodation space is formed and which includes inlet and outlet ports, hemostatic in the form of powders being pre-stored in the accommodation space, and the inlet and outlet ports connecting thereto, and a receptacle inside which gas is compressed and pre-stored and which has a supply port on one side, the supply port separably connecting to the inlet port, wherein the supply port is open as a result of pressing by the powder casing, wherein, through the open supply port, the gas is supplied with a preset pressure toward the inlet port and flows into the accommodation space through the inlet port, and wherein the gas flowing is discharged together with the hemostatic through the outlet port while scattering the hemostatic.
