BLOOD PUMP SYSTEM FOR CAUSING PERSISTENT INCREASE IN THE OVERALL DIAMETER OF A TARGET VESSEL
20230028966 · 2023-01-26 ·

A blood pump system for persistently increasing the overall diameter and lumen diameter of peripheral veins and arteries by persistently increasing the speed of blood and the wall shear stress in a peripheral vein or artery for a period of time sufficient to result in a persistent increase in the overall diameter and lumen diameter of the vessel is provided. The blood pump system includes a blood pump, blood conduit(s), a control system with optional sensors, and a power source. The pump system is configured to connect to the vascular system in a patient and pump blood at a desired rate and pulsatility. The pumping of blood is monitored and adjusted, as necessary, to maintain the desired elevated blood speed, wall shear stress, and desired pulsatility in the target vessel to optimize the rate and extent of persistent increase in the overall diameter and lumen diameter of the target vessel.

DYNAMIC FORECASTS

Disclosed herein are techniques related to dynamic forecasts. The techniques may involve obtaining, from a medical device, measurement data for a patient; forecasting a plurality of values for a condition of the patient based on a forecasting model and the obtained measurement data; providing a graphical user interface depicting the plurality of forecasted values and comprising a plurality of adjustable graphical user interface elements, each associated with a time period and an activity or event likely to influence the condition; obtaining an adjustment to a first adjustable graphical user interface element; in response to obtaining the adjustment to the first adjustable graphical user interface element, updating at least one of the forecasted values based on the adjustment to the first adjustable graphical user interface element, the obtained measurement data, and the forecasting model; and dynamically updating the graphical user interface to reflect the updated at least one forecasted value.

Hemodialysis systems and methods

The present invention generally relates to hemodialysis and similar dialysis systems, including a variety of systems and methods that would make hemodialysis more efficient, easier, and/or more affordable. One aspect of the invention is generally directed to new fluid circuits for fluid flow. In one set of embodiments, a hemodialysis system may include a blood flow path and a dialysate flow path, where the dialysate flow path includes one or more of a balancing circuit, a mixing circuit, and/or a directing circuit. Preparation of dialysate by the preparation circuit, in some instances, may be decoupled from patient dialysis. In some cases, the circuits are defined, at least partially, within one or more cassettes, optionally interconnected with conduits, pumps, or the like. In one embodiment, the fluid circuit and/or the various fluid flow paths may be at least partially isolated, spatially and/or thermally, from electrical components of the hemodialysis system. In some cases, a gas supply may be provided in fluid communication with the dialysate flow path and/or the dialyzer that, when activated, is able to urge dialysate to pass through the dialyzer and urge blood in the blood flow path back to the patient. Such a system may be useful, for example, in certain emergency situations (e.g., a power failure) where it is desirable to return as much blood to the patient as possible. The hemodialysis system may also include, in another aspect of the invention, one or more fluid handling devices, such as pumps, valves, mixers, or the like, which can be actuated using a control fluid, such as air. In some cases, the control fluid may be delivered to the fluid handling devices using an external pump or other device, which may be detachable in certain instances. In one embodiment, one or more of the fluid handling devices may be generally rigid (e.g., having a spheroid shape), optionally with a diaphragm contained within the device, dividing it into first and second compartments.

Power supply for an aerosol delivery device

A control body is coupled or coupleable with a cartridge to form an aerosol delivery device, with the cartridge being equipped with a heating element. The control body includes a power source and a microprocessor. The power source is connected to an electrical load that includes the heater when the control body is coupled with the cartridge, and includes a supercapacitor configured to provide power to the electrical load. The microprocessor is configured to operate in an active mode in which the control body is coupled with the cartridge. In the active mode, the microprocessor is configured to direct power from the supercapacitor to the heating element to activate and vaporize components of the aerosol precursor composition.

NEEDLE-FREE INJECTOR BASED ON UNDERWATER DISCHARGE USING SHOCK WAVE

A needle-free injector based on underwater discharge using a shock wave according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a pressure chamber in which a driving fluid is stored; a medicine chamber communicating with the pressure chamber to store medicine; a pressure transmitting unit interposed between the pressure chamber and the medicine chamber to apply propulsion pressure to the medicine stored in the medicine chamber, when a volume of the pressure chamber is expanded; an injecting unit provided at one side of the medicine chamber to discharge the medicine; and an electrode unit to expand the volume of the pressure chamber, by generating bubbles in the driving fluid stored in the pressure chamber and causing break down.

Extracorporeal blood filtering machine and methods

An extracorporeal blood filtering machine can include a blood circuit, an effluent circuit, and a source fluid circuit and can be controlled by a controller. The extracorporeal blood filtering machine can also include access ports for connecting the source fluid circuit to the blood circuit, as well as blood sensors to detect possible issues with the extracorporeal blood filtering machine. The extracorporeal blood filtering machine can include density sensors and flow sensors that enable it to be more accurate and to operate while being transported. The extracorporeal blood filtering machine can further include a user interface and can display fluid inflow/outflow information. A medical fluid container can automatically empty after being filled. An apparatus for supporting a medical fluid container can include a hanger and an attachment member with the apparatus able to adjust to ensure the medical fluid container remains properly oriented directly under a medical fluid container scale.
