A main die-cut element is divided along a predefined division line to obtain a first die-cut element and a distinct second die-cut element. Glue is deposited on a first portion of one from between the first die-cut element and a secondary die-cut element and on a second portion of one from between the second die-cut element and the secondary die-cut element. The method includes forming an opened die-cut element of the tray plus lid type given by the combination of the first die-cut element and the second die-cut element, wherein these two elements are coupled to the secondary die-cut element, with the first die-cut element and the secondary die-cut element partly superposed and pressed to one another at the first portion and the second die-cut element and the secondary die-cut element being partly superposed and pressed together at the second portion.

A box suitable for the packaging of a consumer product is formed by helically wrapping an elongated continuous strip of material around a mandrel to form a main body with a plurality of bands. In one embodiment, adjacent bands partially overlie one another to form a multi-paneled main body with an open top end and an open bottom end. An adhesive is disposed within the region of contact between adjacent bands to retain the shape of the main body. First and second sets of slots are formed in the main body to create flaps dimensioned to selectively enclose the open top and bottom ends, respectively. To define the flaps and promote pivotal articulation, the main body is also preferably provided with score lines. By adjusting the configuration of the mandrel, a customized box can be constructed that is sized to receive a consumer product with limited wasted space.

A device for processing a plate element (35) has a rotable hub (52), two tools (57, 58), mounted on the hub (52) to process the element (35) when each tool is in a respective processing position; a drive to rotate the hub (52) and the two tools (57, 58); a rotatable counter-tool (64). The rotation (R) of the hub (52) varies during a rotation cycle of the hub (52), and includes two constant speed phases during each of which one of the two tools (57, 58) is, in succession, in the processing position; and at least one phase with each of the two tools (57, 58) in an intermediate position between the respective processing positions, so as to achieve a front lateral processing position and a rear lateral processing position on the element (35).

WASTE DETERMINATION FOR GENERATING CONTROL PLANS FOR DIGITAL PRE-PRINT PAPER, SHEET, AND BOX MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS
20210311677 · 2021-10-07 ·

Systems for providing efficient manufacturing of paper, sheet, and/or box products of varying size and structure, often with pre-applied print (“pre-print”), are provided herein. One or more controllers can be used to aggregate upcoming orders and information needed to complete the manufacturing process for the order. A controller enables a user to prepare control plans (e.g., reel maps, reel plans, etc.) for processing rolls of web product through the manufacturing process. Criteria filtering and/or various features enable generation of efficient and effective control plans for rolls of web product, including, in some cases, multiple orders. The control plan may include a set of instructions for operating one or more systems within the manufacturing process to form the desired finished paper-based product. In such a regard, efficient manufacturing of various paper-based products, including corrugated boxes, folded carton, labels, flexible paper, industrial bags, plates, cups, décor, and many others, can be achieved.
