A pressed crease-forming member includes a strip-shaped member having a crease-forming portion formed with three or a larger-than-three odd number of ribs extending in the longitudinal direction of the strip-shaped member with one of the ribs located at the widthwise center of the crease-forming portion and each half of the remaining even number of ribs arranged on either side of the center rib. At least the top of the center rib, namely, the rib located at the widthwise center of the crease-forming portion, is chamfered. Grooves are formed between the adjacent ribs. The ribs are arranged such that the tops of the ribs are formed, as a whole, into a convex shape. The bottom of each groove is recessed beyond the tops of the ribs on both sides of the groove.

Corrugated paperboard box, perforation forming method for perforating corrugated paperboard sheet, and perforation forming device and perforation forming unit for perforating corrugated paperboard sheet

A corrugated paperboard box is provided in which when flaps are bent, a perforated line along which the flaps can be separated from the box is less likely to break. Such a corrugated paperboard box includes a peripheral wall and top flaps, and is formed, at the boundary area between the peripheral wall and the top flaps, with a groove-shaped reverse scoreline recessed on the side of an outer linerboard, and a pair of groove-shaped recesses recessed on the side of an inner linerboard, and extending in parallel to each other so as to sandwich the area in which the reverse scoreline extends. The corrugated paperboard box is further formed, in one of the groove-shaped recesses, with a perforated line along which the top flaps can be separated from the peripheral wall. The top flaps can be bent along the perforated line toward the inner surface of the peripheral wall.

An arrangement for transforming a planar support (2) includes first and second rotating cylindrical transformation tools (16, 17), cooperating to convert the support (2), first and second side bearings (26, 27), holding the first tool (16) for rotation (Rs), third and fourth side bearings (29, 31), holding the second tool (17) for rotation (Ri), spacers (43, 44, 46, 47) having an inclined face (48) and slidable (S) to adjust the respective distances (e, e1, e2) between the first and third bearings (26, 29) and between the second and fourth bearings (27, 31), to set a radial gap (20) between the two tools (16, 17). In another solution, either as an alternative to or in cooperation with the first solution, the spacer (43) is moved (S) by a differential screw (57) having a first thread (58) that engages with a tapped hole (59) in an integral part (61) of one of the bearings (29) and a second thread (62) different than the first thread (58) and engaging with a tapped hole (63) in the spacer (43).

METHOD FOR CUTTING, PRINTING OR EMBOSSING
20190232595 · 2019-08-01 ·

The invention relates to an apparatus and method for cutting, printing or embossing a continuous sheet of material. The apparatus comprises a tool element, at least two anvils, which are co-operable with the tool element, and a phase adjustment device. The tool element is configured to have a constant surface speed during operation of the apparatus. The apparatus is adapted to receive the continuous sheet at a constant speed into the apparatus, and being adapted to output the continuous sheet at a constant speed from the apparatus. The phase adjustment device is operable to adjust a speed of the continuous sheet within the apparatus in order to adjust a phase of alternate parts of the continuous sheet to be cut, printed or embossed by each anvil as it co-operates with the tool element.

System and associated method for digital scoring of carton blanks
10315376 · 2019-06-11 · ·

A method and system for digitally scoring a substrate prior to completing a carton blank is disclosed. After digitally printing a substrate, it is processed through a series of scoring wheels, male on top, female wheel on bottom. The scoring wheels (and transfer belts which help move the substrate through the wheels) are controlled from the same computer file used to create the graphic image. Subsequent to the first scoring sequence, the substrate is turned 90 degrees and a second scoring sequence takes place. After the scoring sequences have been performed, the substrate continues to the laser die cutter where the same computer or digital file determines where to physically cut the sheet into a carton blank.

Creasing device and corresponding method
