20220176671 · 2022-06-09 · ·

The technology described herein generally relates to an automated packaging apparatus, system and method that packages loose particles into a conical container as well as the final folded packages. More specifically, loose plant matter, such as crumbled dried leaves, are supplied to successive paper cones. The apparatus uses a packing method to accurately fill the cones, pack the crumbled leaves into the cones, and close the wide top portion of the cone into a precise shape.

A lid from paper, paperboard or paper-like material for a container, wherein the lid is produced from an integral planar blank and has a lid plate and a lid collar. The lid collar proceeds from a periphery of the lid plate, and the lid collar is formed from at least two plies of the planar blank. A first ply of the lid collar, proceeding from the periphery of the lid plate, extends to a periphery of the lid collar, and wherein a second ply of the lid collar, from the periphery of the lid collar, on a radially inner side of the lid collar extends to a periphery of the second ply of the lid collar. The periphery of the second ply of the lid collar at least in portions is received in a groove in the region of the periphery of the lid plate.

An apparatus for forming an upper edge of a paperboard container includes a pocket including a shell having a cavity with a mouth configured to receive the container along an axis such that the rim extends beyond the mouth. A workstation includes a forming member having a first forming surface which is actuatable toward the axis from a retracted position spaced from the rim to an extended position lying adjacent an upper end of the rim, and a forming segment having a second forming surface which is actuatable along the axis and the forming member in response to axial movement thereof such that the second forming surface is positioned spaced from a lower end of the rim. The second forming surface is actuatable along the axis towards the first forming surface to form the rim therebetween.

Process for forming a paper container and related methods and materials

Processes, assemblies, and sleeve blanks for forming a two-piece paper container are provided in which the sleeve blank includes an adhesive printed onto the sleeve blank while the sleeve blank is still part of the paper web. The adhesive can optionally be printed onto the sleeve blank in-line with printing a graphic on the sleeve blank prior to providing the sleeve blank to a container forming machine that wraps and seals the sleeve blank to a bottom blank.

A method and system are disclosed for forming a can from a re-configurable blank. A blank is also disclosed that may be a paper based blank and may be of multi-layer construction. The method may comprise: (a) supporting the blank in a first orientation; (b) positioning a first portion of an outward facing surface of a blank support device proximate a first portion of the blank while the blank is in the first orientation; (c) while the first portion of the blank is in the first orientation, rotating a second portion of the blank around a second portion of the outward facing surface of the blank support device; and (d) rotating a third portion of the blank from the first orientation, around a third portion of the outward facing surface of the blank support device. A generally tubular side wall may thus be formed for a can.
