12291414 · 2025-05-06 · ·

An unwinding unit (400) for unwinding a strip (S) of heat sealing material for quadrangular machines (1) comprises a casing (401) adapted to be mounted on a quadrangular machine (1) and a puller (402) operatively associated with the casing (401) and configured to pull the strip (S) relative to the casing (401) along a feed path (P) and in a feed direction (V). A diverter (407) is configured to divert the strip (S) between an initial, preferably horizontal, stretch (P1) of the feed path and a final, substantially vertical stretch (P2) of the feed path, defining a curved, connecting stretch (P3) between the initial stretch and the final stretch. A deformer (413) operatively associated with the casing (401) are configured to make on the strip (5) an extended crease line (414) running along the strip itself starting from the curved stretch (P3) or downstream of the curved stretch (P3), in the feed direction (V) of the strip (S).

A method and apparatus are disclosed for forming containers. The containers may be cans, including composite cans. The apparatus may include a cylindrical mandrel and a blank may be formed into a cylindrical tube around the mandrel. Rotational apparatuses may engage portions of a blank that may be in a flat configuration and may rotate the portions around the outward cylindrical surface of the mandrel. Free edges of the tubular blank may be sealed by a sealing strip that may be T-shaped in cross section. A cup may be installed in an end opening, such as a bottom end, of the cylindrical tube. The cup may be sealed in the end opening by a seaming process using a seaming apparatus.

WATER ACTIVATED TAPE (WAT) CARTON SEALING APPARATUS WITH TOP AND BOTTOM CARTON FEEDING AND METHOD OF CARTON SEALING

A WAT carton sealing apparatus utilizes a top carton sealing assembly and a bottom carton sealing assembly to improve the speed at which cartons are sealed. The top carton sealing assembly moves vertically with respect to the bottom carton sealing assembly to seal cartons of different heights. The top carton sealing assembly may utilize top and bottom carton feeder assemblies, top and bottom tape applicator assemblies, and top and bottom WAT tape head assemblies. The feeder assemblies at least partially feed a carton through the carton sealing apparatus by engaging the top and bottom of the carton. The WAT tape head assemblies apply the water to the WAT tape and feed the WAT tape during application to the carton, while dual first and second top tape applicator assemblies and dual first and second bottom tape applicator assemblies are used to apply a double application of WAT tape to the carton.
