A transport device transports a separating element and inserts it into a container having receptacles. The separating element thus separates adjacent receptacles from each other. The apparatus includes a transport device that removes a separating element from a magazine and brings it to an insertion station for insertion into the container. The transport device includes a linear transporter having an electromagnetic direct drive and motion elements that circulate in a common direction around the linear transporter's closed motion path. Each motion element has a gripper arranged thereon.

An egg carton and method and apparatus for forming an egg carton. A main body of the egg carton may be made of a single sheet of material and folded or otherwise bent to form the majority of the carton's interior space. Partition walls may be engaged with slots formed in the main body to define separate storage areas of the interior space as well as help hold the main body in the desired configuration. Hooks on the sides of the partition walls may engage with openings in the main body to secure the main body to the partition walls.

An insert can comprise a central panel, an inner end panel disposed generally opposite to the central panel, an inner side panel foldably connected to the central panel, and an inner flap foldably connected to the inner side panel. The central panel can extend generally parallel to the first panel, the inner side panel can extend generally parallel to the second panel, and the inner end panel can at least partially overlap the inner flap.

The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for transferring compartments (3) to outer packagings provided for articles. The apparatus (1) comprises at least one provision (9) for a respective stock of compartments (3) and at least one transport path (5) for outer packagings. The apparatus (1) further comprises a working system which is designed to remove compartments from a respective stock of the at least one provision (9) and which can introduce compartments (3) removed from a respective stock into a respective associated outer packaging. The working system is designed for removing a plurality of compartments (3) from at least one specific provision (9), for moving the plurality of compartments (3) removed from a respective provision (9) of the at least one specific provision (9) in the direction of the at least one transport path (5) in a temporally overlapping manner, and for inserting the plurality of compartments (3) removed from a respective provision (9) of the at least one specific provision (9) into a respective outer packaging of the at least one transport path (5).

A carton for holding an article. The carton can comprise a plurality of panels that extends at least partially around an interior of the carton. The plurality of panels can comprise a first panel and a second panel. An insert can comprise a central panel, an inner end panel disposed generally opposite to the central panel, an inner side panel foldably connected to the central panel, and an inner flap foldably connected to the inner side panel. The central panel can extend generally parallel to the first panel, the inner side panel can extend generally parallel to the second panel, and the inner end panel can at least partially overlap the inner flap.

A food container includes a bottom panel and sidewalls pivotally connected to the bottom panel. A lid is pivotally connected to at least one sidewall to open and close the food container. A divider panel having at least one slot is inserted into any one of a plurality of slots in a spacer panel to create an adjustable compartment arrangement inside an internal cavity of the food container. The divider panel includes a groove that provides a recess between the divider panel and a sidewall of the food container that can accommodate a lip of the lid.

A composite container is provided for holding one or more products (e.g., snack foods, toys, etc.) in separate compartments within the same container. The container includes a tubular body defining a first end and a second end, and the tubular body extends radially inward at a predefined location between the first and second ends to form a ledge. A separator, such as a paperboard or plastic disk, can be placed on the ledge, such that the separator defines a first compartment on one side of the separator and a second compartment on the other side of the separator. In this way, a product can be stored in the first compartment, and a product can be stored in the second compartment, and the user can have access to both in the same container. Associated methods of manufacturing a composite container with multiple compartments are also provided.

The invention concerns an elongated protective corner for the transport and/or packaging of products. The corner has at least two non-corrugated paperboard plies combined together to create two perpendicular wings and an apex The plies form multiple ply sections, and at least one of the ply sections of a given ply overlaps another ply section of the same ply. This overlapping arrangement gives the apex a resistance force of about 100 to about 500 lbs. The thickness of the corner can vary, with each wing being in the range of about 100 to about 250 points, and each ply is made from paperboard having a grammage of about 120 to about 380 g/m.sup.2. The resistance force can be determined by mounting the corner upon two blocks, and applying a force to the apex at a middle of the corner until a fracture is detected.
