Label stacking machine and method

A method of making a pad of labels comprises: printing display information on a top surface of a substrate; affixing a first layer of lamination material to a bottom surface of the substrate; affixing a second layer of lamination material to the top surface of the substrate, the second layer of lamination material having a release coating applied to a top surface thereof; applying an adhesive strip to a bottom surface of the first layer of lamination material, the adhesive strip being covered by a liner material; cutting the substrate having first and second layers of lamination material affixed into at least one label; removing the liner material to expose the adhesive strip after cutting the substrate into at least one label; and arranging the labels into a pad of labels.

COMPOSITE STRUCTURES FOR PACKAGING ARTICLES AND RELATED METHODS
20200291579 · 2020-09-17 ·

The composite structure includes a fiber-containing layer, such as a fiberboard layer or other layer having fibers from natural and/or synthetic sources, and a mineral-containing layer covering the fiber-containing layer. The fiber-containing layer and mineral-containing layer can be shaped, sized and manufactured such that the composite structure formed therefrom is capable of being machined to form a storage article. The composite structure has advantages in that it can improve whiteness, opacity, ink adhesion, materials reduction, barrier properties, recyclability, and printability. The composite can reduce polymer mass requirements for heat seal, barrier, and fiber adhesion. Further improvements include economics, pliability, and flexibility that is increased over the pliability of the fiber-containing layer alone.

Protective articles

A protective article is disclosed including a sheet with a first surface, and at least one adhesive portion arranged on the first surface. The adhesive is a water-based adhesive, such as a water-based acrylic adhesive, that allows the sheet to be non-permanently adhered to an object. The adhesive may be sprayed, rolled, printed, or stamped onto the first surface.

Printing apparatus for printing on labels on roll paper and method for detecting number of remaining labels on roll paper
10733915 · 2020-08-04 · ·

In a printing apparatus for performing printing on labels of roll paper formed by winding a label sheet with the labels peelably attached to the label sheet, a label remaining number detecting unit, during a printing operation, determines a thickness of the label sheet from a length between the labels included in the label sheet fed out from a label sheet feed-out unit to a printing unit, the length being determined by a label length detecting unit while a distance to a cylindrical outer surface of the roll paper detected by a distance sensor.

Label with dissolvable liner and methods of making and using same
10726746 · 2020-07-28 · ·

A method of making a label and securing the label to a substrate. The method comprises formulating a dissolvable liner coating. The label has a face stock comprising an upper side and a lower side. The dissolvable liner coating comprises each of a remoistenable adhesive, activated coconut carbon filtered water, and gypsum. The method includes situating an adhesive on the lower side. The method comprises covering the adhesive on the lower side with the dissolvable liner coating. The method includes printing indicia on the upper side while the dissolvable liner coating is covering the adhesive. The method comprises causing the dissolvable liner coating to come into contact with water to cause the dissolvable liner coating to dispel to thereby expose the adhesive. The face stock lower side is secured to the substrate via the exposed adhesive.

Cut and stack pressure sensitive adhesive substrates and process
10710762 · 2020-07-14 · ·

A process of producing printed variably imaged labels cut to individual label sheets in a pre-defined sequence of variable information synchronized with the planogram of a retail store for labeling, output from a factory assembly line for unique product labeling or labeling of shipments from a fulfillment or distribution warehouse that all have unique data and follow a planogram or planned sequence. The labels are cut into single sheets using a cutter/stacker and either use a crack and peel liner or a stripped matrix around the label to facilitate easy removal and application. The cutter/stacker processes converted label stock that is either pre-printed and die cut and/or variably imaged.

Recyclable liner for label assembly
10706748 · 2020-07-07 · ·

In accordance some aspects of the present application, there is provided a label assembly, a release liner and methods of preparing label assemblies and release liners. In one aspect, a label assembly includes a top layer having a front side and a back side and an adhesive applied at the back side of the top layer. The label assembly also includes a silicone-treated liner contacting the adhesive to sandwich the adhesive between the top layer and the liner. The silicone-treated liner comprises paper that does not have a machine finish or gloss finish on a side of the paper that contacts the adhesive to allow at least a portion of the silicone in the silicone treatment to penetrate the paper.
