Packing material and method of manufacturing the packing material
A packing material including a plurality of discrete cushioning elements and methods for making the same. The discrete cushioning elements may be cellulosic cushioning elements. A flexible linkage may connect the plurality of discrete cushioning elements in the packing material. The packing material may also include a bottom cellulosic sheet connected to a top cellulosic sheet with the plurality of cellulosic cushioning elements positioned between the top cellulosic sheet and the bottom cellulosic sheet. The packing material may also be a molded packing material that includes bonds comprising adhesive and cellulosic fibers. The adhesive and cellulosic fibers of the bonds may be dispersed between the folds of each of the cellulosic cushioning elements.
Recipe controlled process for making packaging materials
The present disclosure relates generally to an inflation and sealing machine and in particular to a method for modifying one or more parameters of the machine. The method includes identifying a configuration of a supply material to be used with the inflation and sealing machine, such as by receiving a user input, automatically detecting characteristics of the material, and/or receiving data such as from a sensor regarding the characteristics of the material. Once the configuration of the supply material is identified, the method includes receiving a selection of a prestored recipe according to a configuration of the supply material, where the recipe determines or sets the value for one or more operating parameters of the machine.
Air cushion inflation machine
A machine includes an inflation arrangement, a sealing arrangement, and a tensioning device. The inflation arrangement provides air at a first pressure to inflate a first web of a first type of inflatable material, provides air at a second pressure to inflate a second web of a second type of inflatable material, receives the first and second webs, and aligns the first and second webs on the machine. The first pressure is different from the second pressure. The sealing arrangement seals the first and second types of inflatable material. The tensioning device provides a first tensioning force to the first web as the first web moves between the inflation and sealing arrangements and provides a second tensioning force to the second web as the second web moves between the inflation and sealing arrangements. The first tensioning force is different from the second tensioning force.
PADDING ARTICLE WITH AGGLOMERATED CANCELLOUS BODY
The disclosure relates to padding articles comprising a cancellous body formed from an agglomeration of grains made from a polymer material and are bonded together in a cancellous structure. The padding articles provide thermal insulation, sound insulation, cushioning, or a combination thereof. The disclosure also relates to container systems that include the padding articles, apparatuses/methods for manufacturing the padding articles, and methods of use thereof.
DEFLATABLE INFLATABLE WEB
A protective packaging web is disclosed. The web includes a first film web having a plurality of extended portions including a base perimeter enclosing an open base region and an extended surface protruding in one direction from a plane defined by the first film web. The extended surface has a larger surface area than the open base region. The web also includes a second film web sealed to the first film web around a portion of the open base region to form sub-chambers on a side of the first film web opposite the protruding direction. The first film web and the second film web remain unsealed across the open base region defining regions within the sub-chambers suitable to contain a fluid volume. The plurality of sub-chambers are interconnected via one or more intra-chamber channels, allowing each of the sub-chambers to receive and release fluid in response to external pressures.
ROLLER SEALING MACHINES HAVING WIDE BACKING ROLLERS
A system is capable of advancing and sealing a web of inflatable containers. The system includes a sealing roller that includes a sealing element located around a circumferential surface of the sealing roller. The system also includes a backing roller positioned with respect to the sealing roller to form a nip between a circumferential surface of the backing roller and the circumferential In surface of the sealing roller. When the longitudinal edge of the web is located in the nip, the sealing roller and backing roller counterrotate to advance the web. The circumferential surface of the backing roller extends axially farther into the web than the circumferential surface of the sealing roller extends axially into the web such that backing roller contacts the web at a transverse location that is farther away from the longitudinal edge of web than the sealing roller contacts the web.
FILM INFLATION SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS THEREOF
A nozzle is usable to inflate a film having two sides that form a common channel and inflatable channels. The inflatable channels are in fluid communication with the common channel. The nozzle includes a proximal end configured to separate the two sides of the film to open the common channel as the film moves in a longitudinal direction. The nozzle includes a distal end configured to permit the two sides of the film to converge as the film moves in the longitudinal direction. The nozzle includes a slot configured to direct gas transversely into the common channel to inflate the inflatable channels as the film moves in the longitudinal direction.
TENSION-INDUCING SHAFT ASSEMBLIES
A tension-inducing shaft system includes a shaft, two shaft caps, and a biasing mechanism. A bore extends through the shaft between two ends of the shaft. The shaft caps are positioned on the two ends of the shaft. Each shaft cap includes a collar having a size that is larger than the bore, a keyed end, and an anchor. The biasing mechanism is arranged inside the bore and is coupled to the anchors of the shaft caps so that the biasing mechanism exerts inward forces on the shaft cap. The keyed ends of the shaft caps can be coupled to a housing so that the shaft caps do not rotate with respect to the housing. The shaft is configured to rotate with respect to the shaft caps such that, when the keyed ends are coupled to the housing, the shaft is capable of rotating with respect to the housing.
INFLATION FEATURE FOR PACKAGE, INFLATION RIG ASSEMBLY, AND METHOD OF INFLATING
An inflation feature for a shipping package, an inflation rig assembly for inflating a shipping package, and a method of inflating a shipping package. The method includes providing an inflation feature and an inflation rig assembly with corresponding alignment features, positioning the inflation feature of a shipping package, in an uninflated state, on to the inflation rig assembly in a first position, moving the inflation rig assembly to a second position, such that the shipping package is in fluid communication with an expansion material source, and inflating the shipping package to an inflated state.
Device of providing cushioning matertal for packaging purposes
The invention relates to a device which is used to provide cushioning material for packaging purposes. The device comprises a container for storing the cushioning material and a dispensing device for dispensing the cushioning material out of the container. The dispensing device comprises a driven conveyor for conveying the cushioning material along a conveyor path, the conveyor being supported on a movable base which can be moved out of an operating position into a release position and back, said conveyor being moved out of the conveyor path in the release position.
