A sheet binding processing apparatus including a crimp binding member that performs binding processing on a predetermined region of a sheet by sandwiching and pressing the sheet between an upper tooth and a lower tooth meshing with each other, and a detection unit that detects a state of the predetermined region of the sheet to be bound by the crimp binding member. If the detection unit detects that the predetermined region is not capable of binding, the binding processing on the predetermined region is prohibited.

The present invention relates to a book binding device to perform a binding process comprising a coupling process in which two stacks of sheets, such as sheets or, paper, each with at least one sheet, are coupled to each other by tabs in the sheets, and a cutting process to produce the tabs along a respective tab edge of at least one of the two stacks to be coupled, to bind the sheets into a book along a spine side of the sheets, the device comprising: two stack holders to each hold a stack of at least one sheet, a cutting assembly to perform the process of cutting out sheet material to form the tabs, a coupling assembly to couple the tabs of two respective stacks to produce the book, in which the stack holders serve as positioners for the two stacks to keep the stacks properly oriented during the binding process at all times.

A sheet processing device includes: an accumulator on which sheets are accumulated; a staple driver; a staple receiver disposed at a position facing the staple driver, wherein the staple driver drives a staple into the sheets when the sheet are between the staple receiver and the staple driver; an arm that extends from the staple driver in a direction perpendicular to a staple driving direction to operate the staple driver in the staple driving direction; and a regulator that regulates deviation produced when the staple driver drives the staple. The deviation is in a short length direction of the arm perpendicular to a long length direction of the arm and to the staple driving direction.
