MULTI-LAYERED PRODUCT HAVING AN EMBOSSED INTERIOR LAYER AND A METHOD FOR MAKING THE PRODUCT
20230226795 · 2023-07-20 ·

A multi-layered product having an embossed interior layer is disclosed along with a method of making the product. The multi-layered product has a first layer with an interior surface, a second layer with an interior surface, and a third layer sandwiched between the first and second layers. The third layer has a first surface and a second surface and has a thickness therebetween. The third layer is embossed into a waffle pattern having a plurality of protrusions and a plurality of recesses. Each of the plurality of protrusions and recesses is adjacently aligned and horizontally offset from one another. The plurality of protrusions forms a horizontal plane, at the first surface, which is positioned above a horizontal plane formed by the plurality of recesses, at the first surface. The product also has an adhesive which secures the three layers together.

AUTOMOTIVE GLASS STRUCTURE HAVING FEATURE LINES AND RELATED METHODS OF MANUFACTURE

Automotive glass structures having curves and feature lines and methods for forming the same are provided. An example method includes applying localized heat (e.g., via a laser, heating element) to a location of a substantially planar glass structure and bending the glass structure at that location (e.g., along a line of the planar glass structure) to form a feature line in the glass structure. The bending can be formed to have a radius of curvature of between 2 mm and 5 cm. Additional layers of curved or joined glass layers may further be included to form a curved multi-layer glass structure for automotive use.

Embodiments described herein relate generally to apparatus with ribbed structures or geometries for stiffness and damping control, and methods of producing the same. In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a ribbed structure having a set of ribs, configured to deform elastically under shock. In some embodiments, the set of ribs can have a sinusoidal wave shape. In some embodiments, the set of ribs can have a heterogeneous wave shape. In some embodiments, the set of ribs can have material properties that change along the length of the ribbed structure, such as wavelength, amplitude, wave shape, and material thickness.

LIGHT WEIGHT LINERBOARD FOR CORRUGATED BOARD

The invention relates to a method to produce a linerboard exhibiting a high bending resistance and a high compression strength, which in turn provides high resistance to interflute buckling and sagging in a thereof formed corrugated board. This is achieved by the inventive combination of an optimized fiber refining level of the furnish in each layer of the linerboard, the separate formation of the top layer and the use of a multi-layer headbox to form the two-layered ply. In addition, the linerboard made according to the invention provides good printing properties in a thereof produced corrugated board, especially in flexographic printing, without the fluting structure being negatively affected.
