CATHETER DESIGNS FOR ENHANCED COLUMN STRENGTH
20220176071 · 2022-06-09 · ·

The objectives for the designs presented herein can be for a variably flexible and kink-resistant catheter for vascular applications. The designs benefit from good compressive and tensile stiffness. A braided wire support structure can be disposed around an inner liner and an outer layer having a plurality of outer jackets of variable durometer. A metallic reinforcing layer can be cut from a hypotube and be used as the primary structure for catheter stiffness, reducing the reliance on and number of jackets to transition stiffness changes along the length of the catheter. The metallic reinforcing layer can have one or more ribbon cut segments and one or more axial hole patterns laser cut into the hypotube to progressively evolve the stiffness from proximally regions with more column stiffness and distal regions with greater lateral flexibility. The polymer jackets can be reflowed to bond the structure together.

Systems and methods for treating blood

According to some embodiments, a system may treat blood outside the body of a patient. The system may include one or more pumps configured to draw blood from a patient into a fluid flow path at a rate, for example, of 5-7 liters per minute. The system may include one or more heat exchangers coupled to the fluid flow path and configured to heat the blood, for example, to a temperature above 42 degrees Celsius and below 43.2 degrees Celsius.

Methods and devices described for improved catheters including those having a deflectable section to allow for expansion while maintaining flow through a vessel.

Intravascular devices, systems, and methods having a core wire with embedded conductors

Intravascular devices, systems, and methods are disclosed. In some instances, the intravascular device is a guide wire with electrical conductors embedded within a core wire. In some instances, the electrical conductors are coupled to conductive bands adjacent a proximal portion of the guide wire and a sensing element adjacent a distal portion of the guide wire. Methods of making, manufacturing, and/or assembling such intravascular devices and associated systems are also provided.

A Hybrid Bioscaffold-Intravascular Catheter for Cellular Therapies
20230256196 · 2023-08-17 ·

An intravascular multi-side hole catheter containing a bioscaffold capable of housing therapeutic cells is provided. The catheter comprises a plurality of side holes distributed along the length of the catheter in a spiraling corkscrew pattern. The bioscaffold inside the catheter is designed with a plurality of macropores capable of encapsulating therapeutic cells for cellular therapy. Upon placement of the catheter in a vein, the side holes allow blood to flow though the catheter thereby supplying oxygen and nutrients to any loaded cellular cargo and also providing for the removal of waste products. Methods of producing the intravascular catheter and methods of using the intravascular catheter in cellular therapy, including for delivery of insulin-secreting cells such as beta cells or stem cell-derived islets into blood vessels for treating type 1 diabetes are also disclosed.

STERILE FIELD CLOT CAPTURE MODULE FOR USE IN THROMBECTOMY SYSTEM
20230248504 · 2023-08-10 ·

A clot capture module can include a housing, a chamber inside the housing, a window, and a filter. The window permits visual inspection of a clot inside the chamber. The clot can access the chamber via an incoming flow path configured to direct blood from an aspiration catheter to an upstream surface of the filter. An aspiration control valve can block the flow of incoming aspirated blood until actuated to permit inflow of aspirated blood. An outgoing flow path can direct blood from a downstream surface of the filter to a remote vacuum canister.

Enhanced flexibility neurovascular catheter with tensile support

A neurovascular catheter having an angled distal tip has an elongate flexible tubular body with a proximal end, a distal end and a side wall defining a central lumen. The side wall has a helical coil. A tubular jacket surrounds the helical coil, and extending distally beyond the helical coil distal end to terminate in a catheter distal face. A tubular radiopaque marker is embedded in the tubular jacket in between the distal end of the coil and the distal face. The distal face resides on a plane which crosses a longitudinal axis of the tubular body at an angle within the range of from about 35 degrees to about 55 degrees. The marker has a proximal face that is approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a distal face that resides on a plane which crosses the longitudinal axis at an angle within the range of from about 35 degrees to about 55 degrees.
