Porous Nanocomposite and Related Method
20170240715 · 2017-08-24 ·

A nanocomposite including an array of extended length fibers with nanofibers oriented in transverse relation to the extended length fibers. The nanofibers are mechanically interlocked with the extended length fibers using a connecting agent concentrated at contact locations between the extended length fibers and the nanofibers without saturating the composite. The resultant composite of fibers and connecting agent is characterized by significant internal porosity with an internal void volume not occupied by the connecting agent.

BELT OR FABRIC INCLUDING POLYMERIC LAYER FOR PAPERMAKING MACHINE

A fabric or belt for a papermaking machine including a first layer that defines a web contacting surface and a second layer that supports the first layer. The first layer is made of extruded polymer and includes a plurality of first elements aligned in a first direction, a plurality of second elements aligned in a second direction and extending over the plurality of first elements, and a plurality of open portions defined by the plurality of first and second elements. The second layer is made of woven fabric. The first layer is bonded to the second layer so that the first layer extends only partially through the second layer and an interface formed between the first and second layers includes bonded and unbonded portions and airflow channels that extend in a plane parallel to the first and second layers.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE

A production method for a ceramic matrix composite is comprised of: compounding an aggregate powder including a ceramic and a binder including at least one of thermoplastic resins and waxes to form a composition of the aggregate powder and the binder; pressing the composition to form sheets; accumulating fabrics of reinforcement fibers including the ceramic and the sheets alternately; pressing an accumulated body of the fabrics and the sheets; and generating a matrix combining the reinforcement fibers together.

Fibre reinforced composites

A molding material comprising a fibrous reinforcement layer and a curable resin matrix. The fibrous reinforcement layer comprises a non-woven fabric comprising a single layer of unidirectional tows arranged at an angle greater than 0° in relation to the lengthwise direction of the fabric and a support structure for maintaining the arrangement of the tows.

Articles of manufacture, preferably pump component parts, and a method for making the articles, include providing a plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers in a stack of consecutive layers in a matrix of synthetic polymeric material. The reinforcing fibers of different layers are of corresponding different materials, and the layers are arranged such that the material of the reinforcing fibers in each layer is different from the material of the reinforcing fibers in the next consecutive layer. The layers are stitched together with further reinforcing fibers extending within the stack essentially perpendicular to the layers and interspersed throughout the stack. The stack is compressed and cured to establish a block having a plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers and further reinforcing fibers in a matrix of synthetic polymeric material. The block is machined to establish a prescribed configuration of a desired article.

THIN AND HIGH STRENGTH COMPOSITE LAMINATE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

A thin and high strength composite laminate includes a fabric, an elastic layer and a water-based polyurethane layer. The fabric is weaved by high-tenacity filament or high-tenacity monofilament. The high-tenacity filament or high-tenacity monofilament is made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The fabric has a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The elastic layer is laminated on the first surface of the fabric. The water-based polyurethane layer is laminated on the second surface of the fabric. In this way, a thin, anti-fouling, abrasion resistance and high physical strength composite laminate can be manufactured.
