Engineered flooring product and method of manufacturing thereof

An engineered flooring product suitable for indoor or outdoor flooring applications, and a method of manufacturing thereof are provided. The engineered flooring product comprises a core layer, the core layer comprising: (i) a hydrate compound comprising magnesium hydroxide and magnesium chloride; (ii) one or more hydrate compounds each comprising magnesium hydroxide and magnesium sulfate; and (iii) one or more stabilizing agents. The hydrate compounds are derived at least in part from magnesium oxide. The core layer has a composition that is free of PVC and other plastic-based materials and is selected to provide one or more desired physical properties such as, but not limited to, a desired degree of water resistance, durability, and thermal expansion and contraction. The core layer preferably has a composition that provides a thermal expansion coefficient equivalent to or comparable to concrete.

Cold sintering of materials includes using a process of combining at least one inorganic compound, e.g., ceramic, in particle form with a solvent that can partially solubilize the inorganic compound to form a mixture; and applying pressure and a low temperature to the mixture to evaporate the solvent and densify the at least one inorganic compound to form sintered materials.

The disclosure relates to a method for producing an extruded sheet, which includes: a) providing calcium carbonate (CaCO.sub.3) powder; b) providing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) powder; c) providing additives as stabilisers, e) heating the mixture until the PVC softens to form a kneadable mass and the CaCO.sub.3 at least partially bonds to the PVC; f) cooling the mass; g) conveying the mass to an extruder; h) melting and extruding the mass by means of an extruder and moulding into a sheet by means of a slotted nozzle; i) pressing the still-warm sheet to a desired final thickness by means of at least two calendar rolls; and j) at least one layer of a pigmented lacquer is applied to the upper side; and k) an additional lacquer is applied to the pigmented lacquer to increase the scratch resistance.

The antibacterial layer-attached base material includes: a base material having optical anisotropy, and an antibacterial layer which is disposed on at least a part of a surface of the base material, in which the antibacterial layer contains antibacterial agent fine particles and a binder, an average particle diameter of the antibacterial agent fine particles is 0.05 to 1 m, the thickness of the antibacterial layer is greater than 5 m and smaller than or equal to 15 m, and a tensile strength of the base material is greater than or equal to 200 MPa.

The hardfaced product can be made by applying a molten matrix alloy to a substrate wherein the matrix alloy is combined with a wear-resistant material. The matrix alloy includes manganese and at least one of copper, silver, gold, platinum or palladium. The wear-resistant material includes boron carbide.
