AGE-HARDENABLE AND HIGHLY FORMABLE ALUMINUM ALLOYS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

Provided herein are new aluminum alloy products and methods of making these alloys. The aluminum alloy products are age-hardenable, display high strength and formability, and allow for the use of recycled scrap. The aluminum alloys can serve as the core in a clad aluminum alloy product. The alloy products can be used in a variety of applications, including automotive, transportation, and electronics applications.

Thin gel gasket and a method of making and using the same

A thin, cured gel gasket is disclosed, including methods of making the thin gel gasket and the use of the thin gel gasket in an aircraft joint. In one embodiment, the thin gel gasket has no skeleton or other structure and is comprised of only a cured polyurethane gel and has a thickness of less than about 12 mill. It is manufactured using a release film that is adapted in a number of ways to make release from the gel prior to use easier. In one method of making and using the thin gel gasket. it is applied to a joint which is subject to compression, in one embodiment, a lap joint of an aircraft fuselage.

The aluminum alloy brazing sheet includes a core material and a filler metal, and is used to braze aluminum in an inert gas atmosphere or in vacuum, the core material including aluminum or an aluminum alloy, the filler metal including 6 to 13 mass % of Si, with the balance being Al and unavoidable impurities, and one side or each side of the core material being clad with the filler metal, wherein the core material is clad with the filler metal in a state in which a sheet material is interposed between the core material and the filler metal, the sheet material including one element, or two or more elements, among 0.05 mass % or more of Li, 0.05 mass % or more of Be, 0.05 mass % or more of Ba, and 0.05 mass % or more of Ca, with the balance being Al and unavoidable impurities.
