ANTIMICROBIAL MULTILAYER FILM
A multilayer film containing up to 15 wt % of a blend of cis-13-docosenamide and at least one primary antimicrobial material on or in an exterior layer of the film. The blend of cis-13-docosenamide and at least one primary antimicrobial material is either extruded as part of the surface layer of the film or coated onto the surface of the film.
Method of producing metal member, method of producing resin member, and method of producing exterior part
Provided are a method of producing a metal member, a method of producing a resin member, and a method of producing an exterior part of a vehicle, each using a laminated body including a paint substitute film that includes a thermoplastic resin film, a colored layer, and a semi-cured hard coat layer, in this order, and a protective film that is bonded to a surface of the semi-cured hard coat layer. (1) The method of producing a metal member uses a steel plate together with the laminated body, and includes: a molding step of performing thermocompression bonding on the laminated body and the heated steel plate and performing press-molding while curing the semi-cured hard coat layer. (2) The method of producing a resin member uses a molten resin together with the laminated body, and includes: inserting the laminated body into a mold; performing in-mold molding by performing injection-molding using the molten resin; and curing the semi-cured hard coat layer after the insertion into the mold and until the in-mold molding ends. (3) The method of producing an exterior part of a vehicle includes combining the metal member produced by the above-described method, and the resin member produced by the above-described method.
Class-A components comprising moldable carbon fiber
Class-A components (CAC) include a first and second skin layer each having a polymer matrix and a fiber reinforcing material embedded within the polymer matrix, a third layer disposed between the first and second skin layers and including a third polymer matrix and a filler material interspersed within the third polymer matrix, and a Class-A finish coat applied to the second skin layer. The fiber reinforcing materials include a plurality of substantially aligned carbon fibers and a plurality of low strength regions staggered throughout the carbon fibers. The CAC can be integrated with a rigid vehicle frame. The CAC can be a structural component. The CAC can be a door, a roof panel, or a hood. The CAC can include a layer of woven fibers between the Class-A finish coat and the second skin layer and a portion of the woven fibers can be visible through the Class-A surface layer.
Bearings and components thereof comprising a hot-melt pressure sensitive adhesive and methods of their preparation
Methods of making bearings using pressure sensitive macromolecular adhesive polymers and pressure sensitive polymer compositions capable of integrating fluoropolymeric properties with a catechol-amine functionality to form an adhesive system that allows bonding between metallic substrates and fluoropolymers are disclosed. Also disclosed are core-shell polymeric particles comprised of a core and a shell comprising a thermoplastic polydopamine polymer that may be prepared as a colloidal suspension and used as a hot-melt pressure sensitive adhesive capable of binding low surface energy materials, such as polyolefins and fluoropolymers, to diverse materials including metals in making bearings and/or bearing components.
Article reinforced by multi-dimensional fibers and method for manufacturing the article
In order to solve problems of strength and volume of part, the invention provides an article reinforced by multi-dimensional fibers and a method for manufacturing the article. The article includes a core portion and a shell layer portion. The core portion is made of thermoplastic resin and the fibers in which a majority of and a minority of the fibers are respectively arranged in a major and a minor directions. The method includes: preparing a core portion made of thermoplastic resin and the fibers in which a majority of and a minority of the fibers are respectively arranged in a major and a minor directions, loading the core portion into a mold, and forming a shell layer portion in the mold to enclose the core portion. The article manufactured by the method of this invention can reduce the weight and increase the strength of the parts.
