The multi-layer structure includes a first polymeric layer having a first surface and a second surface, the first polymeric layer comprising a metalized polyethylene teraphthalate, a second polymeric layer having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface of the second polymeric layer disposed adjacent the second surface of the first polymeric layer, the second polymeric layer comprising a cyclic olefin or a homopolymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene, and a third polymeric layer having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface of the third polymeric layer disposed adjacent the second surface of the second polymeric layer, the third polymeric layer comprising polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride. A method of making a multi-layer film structure and a packaging structure are also provided.

A combination of materials that may be formed through an extrusion process. The resulting product has at least two layers. By coextruding multiple layers of at least two types of materials together, the final product may have improved mechanical, thermal, electrical, and other properties as compared to the original materials used. Additionally, by using an additive, filler, or doping material in at least one layer of the final product during the extrusion process, the mechanical, thermal, electrical, or other properties of the final product may be further improved.

The strip, with point Q along one side, hangs down from the rod under the strip's own weight; the straight line PQ intersects the vertical through P at an angle less than 15°.

A package comprises: a sterile barrier packaging film; self-sterilizing components comprising: a plurality of chlorite ions and water, wherein the self-sterilizing components are substantially free of an energy-activated catalyst and of an acid-releasing compound; a package interior formed by hermetically sealing the sterile barrier packaging film; and a headspace within the package interior comprising carbon dioxide present in an amount of greater than or equal to 5% by volume of the headspace. When the package is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light having a wavelength of 254 nm, the chlorite ions react with the water to generate chlorine dioxide (ClO.sub.2), which is released into the headspace. In the absence of any UV light, there is not chlorine dioxide (ClO.sub.2) generation.
