MULTIFUNCTIONAL SYSTEM FOR PASSIVE HEAT AND WATER MANAGEMENT
In an embodiment, a multifunctional material system is provided and can include a variable-permeability layer, a desiccant containing layer, and a vapor-permeable supporting layer. The variable-permeability layer can have a vapor permeability that increases with increasing relative humidity. The desiccant containing layer can be adjacent the variable-permeability layer. The vapor-permeable supporting layer can be positioned adjacent at least one of the variable-permeability layer and the desiccant containing layer. Water moves in a first direction from the variable-permeability layer to the desiccant layer when relative humidity is greater adjacent the variable-permeability layer than the desiccant layer. Water moves a second, opposing direction, from the desiccant containing layer to the variable-permeability layer when the relative humidity is greater adjacent the desiccant containing layer than the variable-permeability layer. The rate of water motion in the first direction is greater than the second direction when the humidity gradient is reversed.

An article for damping vibrations by constrained layer damping comprising: a first constraining layer; a second constraining layer; and a damping layer disposed between the first and second constraining layers, wherein the first and second constraining layers each independently comprise a fibre-reinforced composite material, wherein the first and second constraining layers each independently have a thickness from 1.5 to 5 mm, wherein the damping layer comprises a viscoelastic material, wherein the damping layer has a thickness from 1 to 10 mm and wherein the article has a thickness from 6 to 50 mm. The invention also relates to the use of said article for damping vibrations in a vehicle.

Disclosed are compositions and methods for multilayer films, which, in one embodiment may comprise a core layer comprising at least 50 wt. % of high-density polyethylene. Further, the multilayer film may include a first skin layer comprising, consisting essentially of, or consisting of low-density polyethylene, optionally linear, and at least about 80 wt. % of high-density polyethylene, as well as a second skin layer comprising either: (i) one or more low-density polyethylenes, any or all of them optionally being linear; or (ii) one or more polypropylene-based copolymers. The multilayer film may be oriented in at least one direction.

A novel disc brake shim and a disc brake that can effectively suppress vibration and squeal are provided. The disc brake shim that is formed of a multilayer structure with three layers or more including at least a base material layer formed of a metal sheet, and a foamed rubber layer that is laminated on a main surface on one side of the base material layer, wherein the foamed rubber layer is an intermediate layer of the multilayer structure, and the disc brake including pad materials on both sides in an axial direction of a disc rotor, and shims on opposite sides from the disc rotor, of the pad materials adjacently, wherein each of the shims is the disc brake shim according to the present invention.

In a method for producing a compound of at least two polymer substrates, two polymer substrates each having a connecting surface are provided. At least one of the polymer substrates is coated with a self-assembling polypeptide, at least in the area of the connecting surface. The two polymer substrates are connected by pressing together the connecting surfaces under pressure and at a temperature corresponding to at least the glass transition temperature of the material of one of the polymer substrates at the connecting surface, wherein a diffusion of polymer chains takes place between the connecting surfaces by the self-assembling polypeptide and a solid connection is formed between the two connecting surfaces. A sealed microfluidic cartridge includes a polymer cartridge and a sealing film connected by such a method.

A foldable display screen and a manufacturing method thereof, and a display apparatus are provided. The foldable display screen includes a display panel and an optically clear adhesive (OCA) layer. The display panel includes a bending region and a non-bending region; and the bending region is configured to be bent along an axis extending in a first direction, the non-bending region is on at least one side of the bending region in a second direction. The OCA layer includes a first portion and a second portion, the first portion is in the bending region, an edge of the first portion in the first direction overlaps with an edge of the bending region in the first direction, the second portion is located in the non-bending region, and a spacing is formed between the second portion and an edge of the non-bending region in the first direction.

Disclosed is a packaging for a flexible secondary battery comprising a first polymer resin layer, a barrier layer formed on the first polymer resin layer to block water and gas, and a second polymer resin layer formed on the barrier layer. The thickness of the barrier layer is 30 to 999 nm. The barrier layer is multi-layered, and comprises graphene, a dispersing agent, and pyrene as a flexible linking agent, in which there is π-π conjugation (interaction) between the graphene and the pyrene. Also disclosed is a flexible secondary battery comprising the packaging.
MULTILAYER FILM FOR APPLYING LABELS ON ITEMS OF CLOTHING
A multilayer film (8) for applying a label (4) to a fabric support (2) by hot pressing includes a lower layer (8a), a barrier layer (8b) and an upper layer (8c). The lower layer (8a) is substantially made of copolyamide, the barrier layer (8b) is substantially made of EVOH, and the upper layer (8c) is substantially made of copolyamide. The film is particularly effective for limiting the migration of pigments from the fabric to the label.
