Fabric with foam core
A stitched fabric including a foam core and a yarn stitched through and forming stitch holes in the foam core, where the yarn extends over at least a majority of a width and a length of the stitched fabric. In some cases, the yarn and the foam core are free from contact by another layer on either side of the foam core. In some cases, a barrier layer is disposed over at least one side of the foam core and a melted portion of the barrier layer fills a portion of the stitch holes. In some cases, the foam core is a closed cell aerogel foam core.
PROTECTIVE WRAP FOR REGULATING FLUID INFILTRATION AND METHODS OF MAKING, INSTALLING, AND USING THE SAME
The present disclosure provides for protective drainage wraps having improved properties, including fluid handling and structural integrity. The protective material barrier constructions, such as wraps, provide protection to surfaces, such as walls of buildings. The present disclosure provides for methods of making, using, and installing such protective material barrier constructions.
THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE
A method of making a flexible pipe layer, which method comprises: commingling polymer filaments and carbon fibre filaments to form an intimate mixture, forming yarns of the commingled filaments, forming the yarns into a tape, and applying the tape to a pipe body to form a flexible pipe layer.
FLAME RESISTANT MATERIAL FOR A PROTECTIVE GARMENT
Oxidized polyacrylonitrile fiber (OPF) containing fabrics when used in the fire service, either in a NFPA 1971 or NFPA 1951 compliant protective garments, offer exceptional comfort and protection characteristics that ensure firefighters can safely perform their duties in structural fire, overhaul, urban search and rescue, and other various missions. OPF containing fabrics used in turnout gear outer shells and compliant with NFPA 1971, provide the best combination of protection as tested by the thermal protective performance test and comfort as tested by the total heat loss/resistance to evaporative heat transfer test.
LEATHER-LIKE SHEET
A leather-like sheet includes: a fiber base material; an intermediate resin layer stacked on one surface of the fiber base material; and a surface resin layer stacked on the intermediate resin layer. The surface resin layer contains a polyether-based polyurethane and spherical fine particles having a heat resistance at 200° C., and has a content ratio of the spherical fine particles of 5 to 40 mass %. The spherical fine particles have a specific heat of 0.95 kJ/(kg.Math.K) or more, a particle size D.sub.50 (median diameter) at a cumulative distribution of 50 vol %, of 2.5 to 10 μm, and a particle size D.sub.10 at a cumulative distribution of 10 vol % of the spherical fine particles which satisfies a condition that a particle size dispersity D.sub.50/D.sub.10≤3.
MEDICAL USE VENTING FILTER
The disclosure provides improved vent filters useful in single-use in-line transfusion systems. In a first aspect, the disclosure provides filter comprising (i) a layer comprising a fluoropolymer membrane and (ii) a layer comprising at least two air-permeable thermoplastic polymeric layers, the air-permeable thermoplastic polymeric layers comprised of a first polymeric layer and a second polymeric layer, wherein the first polymeric layer is in bonded contact with the fluoropolymer membrane, possesses a melting point of about 95° C. to about 180° C., and wherein the second polymeric layer is in bonded contact with the first polymeric layer and has a melting point of about 220° C. to about 265° C. These filters exhibit excellent bonding strength between the various layers while preserving a considerable amount of the original fluoropolymer membrane air flux.
Ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition, pellets, and multilayer structure
An ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition contains: (A) an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer including two or more types of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymers having different ethylene structural unit contents; and (B) an iron compound; wherein the iron compound (B) is present in an amount of 0.01 to 5 ppm on a metal basis based on the weight of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition. The ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition is substantially free from coloration and excellent in heat stability.
Multilayer substrate materials for application to textile fabrics
A multilayer substrate material configured to be applied to a back surface of an upholstery or mattress textile fabric and a front surface configured to contact a user of the upholstery or mattress textile fabric. The multilayer substrate material includes protector, adhesive, film and backcoat layers. The adhesive layer is applied to the protector layer and formed of a number of discrete and non-continuous regions. The film layer is applied to the adhesive layer. The number of discrete and non-continuous regions include an interface between the protector layer and the film layer such that the protector layer touches the film layer at the interface. The backcoat layer is applied to the film layer and includes a non-acrylic binder and a flame retardant material. The number of discrete and non-continuous regions form a number of non-adhesive regions therebetween configured to not resist flexing of the protector, film and backcoat layers.
Cross-linked thermoplastic polyvinylidene fluoride compositions
The invention relates to polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) copolymer compositions that have improved crosslinking efficiency and performance. The PVDF copolymer contains a high level (>14 and preferably greater than 16 wt %) of a fluorinated comonomer, and has a high molecular weight as measured by the melt viscosity at 230° C. and 100 sec−1 of 18 to 40 kpoise. The composition can be effectively cross-linked with a low level radiation (high cross-linking efficiency). The cross-linked composition is useful in high-temperature applications, such as automotive wire and cable, and heat shrink tubing.
Apparel with body mapped waterproof-breathable portions
A garment includes a first material layer including a first surface, a second material layer laminated to the first material layer, where the second material layer includes a second surface, and a laminate material disposed in a non-continuous manner between the first and second surfaces of the first and second material layers. An amount of laminate material disposed between the first and second material layers varies at different zones defined along the first surface of the first material layer. The laminate material can be applied via a dot lamination process so as to form an array of laminate dots that varies by one or more of spacing between laminate dots, dimensions of laminate dots and shapes of laminate dots at the different zones.
