An ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin composition, including: an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A); acetic acid and/or a salt thereof (B); an aliphatic carboxylic acid (C) other than acetic acid; and an aliphatic carboxylic acid metal salt (D), wherein a metal species of the salt (D) is at least one selected from long Periodic Table 4th-period d-block elements, and wherein respective contents of the acetic acid and/or the salt thereof (B), the acid (C), and the salt (D) satisfy the following formulae (1) and (2) on a weight basis is provided. The resin composition is excellent in impact resistance and adhesive strength even without being blended with any other resin:
0.001≤(content of (D) in terms of metal ion/content of (B) in terms of acetic acid ion)≤1.30  (1)

Multilayer oriented shrink films include a base layer and at least one skin layer on at least one side of the base layer. The at least one skin layer includes at least one amorphous styrene-butadiene block copolymer or at least one amorphous cyclic olefin copolymer. The base layer has a thickness greater than the at least one skin layer and includes a blend of: (a) at least one styrene block copolymer selected from the group consisting of styrene-ethylene/butene-styrene triblock copolymers, styrene-ethylene/propylene-styrene triblock copolymers, styrene-ethylene/butene diblock copolymers and styrene-ethylene-propylene diblock copolymers and combinations thereof; and (b) at least one propylene polymer selected from the group consisting of polypropylene terpolymers with ethylene and butene-1, propylene ethylene copolymers, propylene butene-1 copolymers and combinations thereof.

For a flexible, optically clear display stack, an adhesive, a system, and a method are provided. The adhesive is formed of polymer chains, at least a portion of which are cross-linked, a non-volatile diluent having a volume % in the range of between about 40 and 95, and is characterized with a low shear modulus of less than 10 kPa. The system is formed by at least first and second optically clear thin films with the adhesive disposed between the first and second thin films. The method includes the steps to form the system.

A transparent heat-insulating film is provided, wherein the transparent heat-insulating film includes a base layer including a first surface and a second surface, a hard-coat layer, a silver nanowire layer, and a protective layer including an inner surface and an outer surface. A temperature of the second surface of the base layer is T1 (° C.), a temperature of the outer surface of the protective layer is T2 (° C.), and a temperature difference between T1 and T2 (T1−T2) is ΔT. When T1=50-100° C. and the base layer and the protective layer reach thermal equilibrium, ΔT=0.15T1−0.35T1.

Disclosed are compositions and methods for multilayer films, which, in one embodiment may comprise a core layer comprising at least 50 wt. % of high-density polyethylene. Further, the multilayer film may include a first skin layer comprising, consisting essentially of, or consisting of low-density polyethylene, optionally linear, and at least about 80 wt. % of high-density polyethylene, as well as a second skin layer comprising either: (i) one or more low-density polyethylenes, any or all of them optionally being linear; or (ii) one or more polypropylene-based copolymers. The multilayer film may be oriented in at least one direction.

PRODUCTION OF A COMPOSITE FROM POLYMER SUBSTRATES AND SEALED MICROFLUIDIC CARTRIDGE

In a method for producing a compound of at least two polymer substrates, two polymer substrates each having a connecting surface are provided. At least one of the polymer substrates is coated with a self-assembling polypeptide, at least in the area of the connecting surface. The two polymer substrates are connected by pressing together the connecting surfaces under pressure and at a temperature corresponding to at least the glass transition temperature of the material of one of the polymer substrates at the connecting surface, wherein a diffusion of polymer chains takes place between the connecting surfaces by the self-assembling polypeptide and a solid connection is formed between the two connecting surfaces.
