System and method for producing a facing for a board product with strategically placed scores
11465385 · 2022-10-11 · ·

A system and method for producing a board product made from paper products that have a pre-scored facing in addition to a medium (sometimes called fluting). Conventional corrugated board may feature a cross-corrugated medium and one or more facing that have no score lines that are impressed (at least prior to assembly with the corrugated medium). Such a conventional board product may be inferior because any score lines that are impressed will damage the underlying corrugated medium in some manner. A breakdown in the strength of the underlying medium leads to poor precision when the eventual board product is scored, cut, and folded. A lack of precision in folding a board product leads to gap variation and fishtailing as any articulated portion of the board product may not maintain a precise plane of articulation when folded.

Low coefficient of friction ethylene-based compositions

The present disclosure provides a composition containing a polymeric blend. The polymeric blend contains (A) from 50 wt % to 90 wt % of a first ethylene-based polymer having a density from 0.895 g/cc to 0.905 g/cc; and a melt index from 0.1 g/10 min to 50 g/10 min; (B) from 8 wt % to 48 wt % of a second ethylene-based polymer having a density from 0.935 g/cc to 0.967 g/cc; and a melt index from 0.1 g/10 min to 180 g/10 min; and from 0.01 wt % to 2.0 wt % of a slip agent, based on the total weight of the polymeric blend. The polymeric blend has (i) an overall density from 0.900 g/cc to 0.925 g/cc; and (ii) a coefficient of friction (COF) after aging for 1 week at 60° C. from 0.001 to 0.400. The present disclosure also provides a multilayer film with a first layer containing the composition.

Multi-ply tissue product produced from a single ply tissue web
11466409 · 2022-10-11 · ·

In general, the present invention is directed to a process for producing multi-ply tissue products from a single ply tissue web and the resulting multi-ply products, which have good softness and strength characteristics. The process of the present invention generally involves producing a first single ply tissue web and then splitting the web into two separate single ply tissue webs that can be converted into a multi-ply web. In certain preferred embodiments the single ply web may be manufactured such that when it is split into two separate webs the two webs are substantially identical.
