GYPSUM WALLBOARD WITH REINFORCING MESH
A wallboard panel is provided, including a sheet of face paper, a first layer of gypsum composition having a first density, a web of mesh associated with the first layer of gypsum composition, a second layer of gypsum composition having a second density, the second density being lower than the first density, and a layer of backing paper. An associated method includes providing a sheet of face paper and laying same upon a moving conveyor belt, applying a first layer of gypsum composition slurry upon the sheet of face paper, applying a web of mesh upon the first layer of gypsum composition slurry, applying a second layer of gypsum composition slurry upon the web of mesh, and applying a sheet of backing paper upon the second layer of gypsum composition slurry.
Extendable Self-Supporting Material Composites and Manufacture Thereof
Specific composite materials described herein are based on the discovery that certain selections of materials and manufacturing conditions and processes provide unexpectedly improved self-supporting thin-film composite materials. It has been discovered that certain combinations of backing materials, shrink film materials, and manufacturing conditions provide improved composites having highly controllable, readily repeatable, and stable arc shaped cross-web curled structures. In general, the composite materials described herein comprise a dimensionally alterable film such as a polyester shrink film having a first surface and a second surface, and a polyester backing material having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the second surface of the backing material is laminated to the first surface of the dimensionally alterable film. Upon activation of the alterable film, for example upon exposing the composite material comprising the polyester heat shrink film to heat, the composite material can be imparted with an arc shaped cross-web curled structure along it longitudinal width, resulting in resistance to bending in its axial length, and a self-supporting material.
ADHESIVE COMPRISING POLYVINYL ACETATE AND A MIXTURE OF GLUCOSE AND FRUCTOSE
Aqueous adhesive compositions comprising polyvinyl acetate can be extended by a) providing an adhesive polymer component wherein at least about 75% of adhesive polymer materials present in the adhesive polymer component is polyvinyl acetate; b) providing an aqueous saccharide composition comprising fructose and glucose in a fructose to glucose weight ratio of from about 3:10 to about 10:3, wherein the fructose and glucose combined are at least about 50 percent of all saccharides present in the aqueous saccharide composition. The aqueous saccharide composition has a total saccharides dry solids content of at least 70 percent by weight based on the total aqueous saccharide composition. The adhesive polymer component is mixed with the aqueous saccharide composition to form an extended aqueous adhesive composition comprising from about 5 to about 50 percent by dry weight of the saccharide composition. Compositions and methods of use are also described.
PROCESS FOR FORMING IMPROVED PROTECTIVE ECO-FRIENDLY POUCH AND PACKAGING AND PRODUCTS MADE THEREFROM
The present invention relates generally to a protective wrap and a protective envelope or pouch made therefrom, as well as the apparatus and process for forming such wraps and envelopes. Water-based heat-expandable adhesives (WBHEA) which include a plurality of heat-expandable microspheres are disposed in a pattern between web substrates on a continuous, high speed manufacturing line to produce padded, insulated products useful as envelopes, mailers and other protective packaging.
A METHOD FOR PRODUCING A LAMINATE, AND A LAMINATE
The present invention relates to a method for producing a laminate comprising a paper or paperboard substrate and a microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) film. A first web comprising a paper or paperboard substrate is provided. A second web of an MFC film is provided, wherein the MFC film has: a) a content of MFC of 50-100 weight-% based on total dry weight; b) a moisture content of 5-20 weight-%, c) a ratio of a machine direction tensile index and a cross direction tensile index of 0.8-1.4. The first web and the second web are joined using at least one adhesive layer provided between the webs so as to form the laminate. The MFC film of the laminate is further dried to a moisture content of less than 4 weight-%. The invention relates also to a laminate and a packaging material comprising the laminate.
