Elasticized absorbent articles and methods of weakening elastic portions in elasticized absorbent articles
Elasticized absorbent articles containing weakened elasticized portions and methods of manufacture are disclosed. A method comprises applying a first amount of adhesive to a first portion of at least one of the first web of material and the elastic strand, applying a second amount of adhesive to a second portion of at least one of the first web of material and the elastic strand, covering the elastic strand with either the first surface of the first web of material or a first surface of a second web of material to form an elasticized web. The elasticized web comprises a heavy bonding region and a light bonding region, wherein the heavy bonding region comprises a greater area density of adhesive than the light bond region. Finally, the method may further comprise partially weakening the waist panel elastic strand at least at one location within the second region.
Method and apparatus for assembling absorbent articles
The present disclosure relates to methods for assembling elastic laminates that may be used to make absorbent article components. Particular aspects of the present disclosure involve providing a first substrate and a second substrate, the first substrate and the second substrate, each having a width in a cross direction; providing an activated elastic material; elongating the activated elastic material; and ultrasonically bonding the first substrate together with the second substrate with the elongated activated elastic material positioned between the first substrate and the second substrate.
Methods and apparatuses for making elastomeric laminates with elastic strands provided with a spin finish
The present disclosure relates to methods for making elastomeric laminates that may be used as components of absorbent articles. The methods and apparatuses may be configured with a plurality of elastic strands wound onto a beam, wherein one or more elastic strands comprises a spin finish. During assembly of an elastomeric laminate, the beam is rotated to unwind the elastic strands from the beam. A portion of the spin finish may be removed from the advancing elastic strand with a spin finish removal apparatus. The spin finish removal apparatus may be configured to apply detergent to an advancing elastic strand and may also wipe and/or dry the advancing elastic strand. The treated stretched elastic strand may then be connected between a first substrate and a second substrate. In some configurations, adhesive may be applied to the treated the elastic strand, the first substrate, and/or the second substrate.
Process for producing smooth strand-based siding or structural panels using secondary pressing
A process for producing a smooth-sided strand-based siding or wood structural panel using a secondary pressing process. The secondary pressing process is performed after the primary process completes pressing and consolidation of the substrate/board. The secondary process applies and cures the overlay after applying a water spray on the hot board immediately out of the primary process press, and before overlay application. The application of the water spray causes the surface of the board to swell and cure. A settling period follows to allow the top surface particles and strands to swell along with absorption and evaporation of the moisture. This is followed by surface sanding to remove the telegraphing and produce a smooth surface, which is then followed by lamination of the overlay(s). The process is completed by post-lamination treatment and coating of the board.
NON-STRETCH BONDED STRAND AND FILM ELASTICS
A laminate includes a core structure having a first surface and a second surface, the core structure including an elastic core layer and a plastic core layer, wherein the elastic core layer is one of a film, a plurality of strands, and a plurality of strips, and wherein the plastic core layer is one of a film layer, a plurality of strands, and a plurality of strips, the plastic core structure reinforcing the core layer in the machine direction, and a nonwoven first facing layer affixed to the first surface.
Tissue substitute multilayer matrix and uses thereof
Compositions-of-matter comprising a matrix made of one or more, preferably two or more elastic layers and one or more viscoelastic layer are disclosed. The compositions-of-matter are characterized by high water-impermeability and optionally by self-recovery. Processes of preparing the compositions-of-matter and uses thereof as tissue substitutes or for repairing damaged tissues are also disclosed.
Method of Making an ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR
A method of manufacturing a panel for an article of apparel includes stretching a base layer from a resting configuration to a stretched configuration. The method further includes coupling a reinforcement layer to the base layer when the base layer is in the stretched configuration. The method also includes applying an auxetic structure to the reinforcement layer when the base layer is in the stretched configuration. The auxetic structure includes a plurality of interconnected members defining a repeating pattern of voids, and each void has a reentrant shape. The method further includes releasing the base layer to allow the base layer to return to the resting configuration.
BEVERAGE SLEEVE
A beverage sleeve provides a device for a consumer to use in connection with a hot or cold beverage. The sleeve is operable to keep the hot beverage container cool to the touch for the consumer while keeping a cold beverage dry to the touch of the consumer. A method of manufacturing produces the improved sleeve. The sleeve includes marketing opportunities by providing advertising indicia that are interfacable with the consumer and a marketing network.
Process for the production of a structured film
The present invention relates to a process for the formation of a structured film, a structured film as such, an article comprising the structured film, a device for the continuous formation of such a structured film and a composite comprising the structured film.
Elastic laminates with curved elastics and methods for manufacturing
Elasticated materials and articles comprising elasticated materials are disclosed. A method may comprise advancing first and second substrate materials and a stretched elastomeric strand in the machine direction. The method may further comprise advancing the first and the second substrate materials with the elastomeric strand positioned therebetween to a bonding apparatus. The bonding apparatus may comprise first and second elements forming a bonding nip. The method may further comprise oscillating the strand in a cross-machine direction and advancing the first and second substrate materials, and the strand, through the bonding nip and bonding the first and second substrate materials together with at least first and second bonds. The first and second bonds may be disposed on opposite sides of the strand and spaced apart a distance less than its un-tensioned diameter, and the first and second bonds may be located along an arcuate portion of the strand.
