METHOD FOR FORMING A COMPOSITE STRUCTURE
Methods and systems are provided for fabricating a composite structure. In one example, the composite structure may include a honeycomb core sandwiched between face sheets. An edge of the honeycomb core may be abraded and a top face sheet may be perforated. As such, a likelihood of delamination of the composite structure during a curing step may be reduced.
PRODUCTION PROCESS OF A COMPOSITE PRODUCT
Production process of a composite product (1) comprising a core (2), a first layer (3) comprising a sheet impregnated with a solid polyurethane material, and a polymer-based film (7) applied to the first layer (3), wherein the process comprises: producing a semi-finished product comprising the core (2) and the sheet impregnated by a liquid mixture precursor of the solid polyurethane material; adhering the film (7) to a first half-mould (11) by applying a depression between the film (7) and the half-mould (11); pressing two half-moulds (11, 12) against each other with the semi-finished product interposed between two shaping surfaces (13), so that the film (7) comes into contact with the liquid mixture; with the semi-finished product in the mould, thermosetting the liquid mixture to transform it into the polyurethane solid material so that the film (7) firmly adheres to the first layer (3) and thus producing the composite product (1).
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A COMPOSITE COMPONENT
A method for producing a composite component including a bottom layer, cover layer and honeycomb structure, including applying the honeycomb structure to the bottom layer wherein honeycomb chambers are formed. Honeycomb chambers are filled in a reinforcement region with a granular material and granular material is removed from other honeycomb chambers wherein each honeycomb chamber is filled up to a granular-material filling height and honeycomb chambers outside the reinforcement region are free of granular material. The cover layer is applied to the honeycomb structure wherein the honeycomb chambers are closed. The composite component is heated so the granular material in the honeycomb chambers expands to fill it with granular material and the cover layer, the bottom layer, the honeycomb structure and the expanded granular material harden, the density of the expanded granular material in the honeycomb chambers filled with granular material being dependent on the granular-material filling height.
Method for producing a sandwich composite component with pressed two or three-dimensional shape and such a composite component
Described is a method for producing a sandwich composite component and a sandwich composite component with a pressed two- or three-dimensional shape, having at least one structured core layer made of thermoplastic material which has two opposite core layer surfaces, each bonded to a thermoplastic cover layer. A sandwich composite component is also described.
Unitized construction panel
A process for fabricating a unitized structure comprises creating a multilayer structure by applying a flame-retardant resin to a first layer and stacking, on the first layer, an intermediate layer comprising a honeycomb structure. Further, a second layer is stacked on the intermediate layer and the flame-retardant resin is applied to the second layer. The multilayer structure is then heated to a desired temperature and a pressure is applied about the multilayer structure for a predetermined process time. Moreover, the flame-retardant resin is prevented from entering spaces of the honeycomb structure. After elapse of the predetermined process time, the pressure is released, creating the unitized structure.
Remoldable impact-attenuation article
Aspects herein provide for a remoldable article configured to attenuate or reduce the results of an impact. The article comprises a plate that is remoldable in a temperature range of about 41 degrees Celsius to about 43.3 degrees Celsius.
Method for producing an acoustically resistive structure, acoustically resistive structure thus obtained, and sound-absorption panel comprising said acoustically resistive structure
A method for producing an acoustically resistive structure includes the steps of creating, consolidating and cutting a first layer of reinforcing fibres embedded in a first thermoplastic resin having a first melting point so as to obtain an interlayer, a step of laying a second layer of reinforcing fibres against a first face of the interlayer, a second consolidation step of consolidating the second layer of reinforcing fibres embedded in a second thermoplastic resin having a second consolidation temperature lower than the first melting point of the first resin so as to obtain a non-perforated external layer bound to the interlayer, a step of perforating the external layer and a step of laying an internal layer on a second face of the interlayer. An acoustically resistive structure obtained from the method as well as a sound-absorption panel including such an acoustically resistive structure are also described.
SANDWICH-STRUCTURED PANELS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
Sandwich-structured noise-attenuating and/or structural panels and methods of manufacturing such panels using ultrasonic welding are described. The method includes: receiving a backing member, a sheet and a cellular structure; assembling the cellular structure between the backing member and the sheet; and ultrasonically welding the backing member and the sheet together.
Hybrid composite panel and method
A method of producing a core for a composite panel along a continuous production line is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a thermoplastic sheet of material onto the production line and vacuum forming the thermoplastic sheet of material into alternating pairs of matching shapes, providing the thermoplastic sheet of material with alternating pairs of matching shapes onto upper and lower conveyor belts that are operating at lower speeds than the production line causing the pairs of matching shapes to bunch up and form a honeycomb structure, and cutting the honeycomb structure into discrete sections with spaces therebetween. A plurality of reinforced plastic bands with gaps therebetween are provided and the honeycomb structure is aligned with the gaps. The plurality of reinforced plastic bands and the honeycomb structure are secured together.
PANEL WITH PAINT READY SURFACE
In a preferred embodiment, a composite panel with a smooth outer surface, ready for painting with or without addition of primer, may be created by constructing a panel layup assembly upon a mold, the panel layup assembly including a composite panel having a core and a resin formulation, and a release film between the mold and the composite panel, where a smooth release surface of the release film is in contact with the composite panel upon construction; initiating curing of the composite panel at a first temperature within a lowermost ten percent of a curing temperature range of the resin formulation; continuing curing of the composite panel at a second temperature above the lowermost ten percent of the curing temperature range; and completing curing of the composite panel at a third temperature below the second temperature.
