20230027080 · 2023-01-26 ·

A laminate includes a multilayer outer film, which includes a first barrier layer and polyolefin layer on both sides of the first barrier layer, and a multilayer middle film, which includes a second barrier layer and polyolefin layer on both sides of the second barrier layer. The polyolefin layer of the multilayer outer film towards the multilayer middle film and/or the polyolefin layer of the multilayer middle film towards the multilayer outer film is metallized with a metal selected from aluminum, nickel, chromium, or combinations thereof. A process can be used for preparing the laminate and an article can include the laminate.

Reactivation of co-cured film layers

The present disclosure is directed to a method for reactivating a co-cured film layer disposed on a composite structure, the method comprising applying a reactivation treatment composition comprising at least two solvents and a surface exchange agent comprising a metal alkoxide or chelate thereof to the co-cured film layer, and allowing the reactivation treatment composition to create a reactivated co-cured film layer, wherein the co-cured film layer was previously cured at a curing temperature greater than about 50° C. A reactivated co-cured film layer and an aircraft part having a reactivated co-cured film layer are also provided.

Panel and methods for manufacturing panels

A method is provided for manufacturing a panel that includes a substrate and a top layer provided on the substrate. The top layer may include a decor film and a transparent film. The decor film may be a printed synthetic material film chosen from the group consisting of a vinyl-based film, a polyethylene based film, a polyurethane based film, and a polypropylene film. A print may be situated on an upper side of the printed synthetic material film. The transparent film may be a thermoplastic synthetic material film the material of which is chosen from the group consisting of polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polyurethane, and polypropylene. The method may involve providing the decor film and the transparent film on the substrate by performing a first press treatment at an increased temperature to form a package of the substrate, the decor film, and the transparent film. The first press treatment may be performed by a calendar device or a continuous press device. A structure may be formed in the thermoplastic synthetic material that forms a surface of the package by performing a second press treatment using a press device with a structured press element at a temperature that is lower than the increased temperature.

Method for applying a polymeric film to a substrate and resulting articles
11548272 · 2023-01-10 · ·

A polymeric film assembly comprising a first solidified interlayer on a polymeric film or laminate comprising the same that is contacted with at least a portion of a surface of an underlying article to provide, for example, desired surface characteristics. At least a portion of the first solidified interlayer becomes a softened interlayer positioned between the polymeric film and the surface of the article when contacted as such. The softened interlayer is then converted to a second solidified interlayer, which second solidified interlayer may be in a different form than or same form as the first solidified interlayer initially provided, for adherence of the polymeric film to at least the portion of the surface of the article. Ease of removal and/or repair of polymeric film and laminates comprising the polymeric film that are so applied is facilitated.

Process for forming a nonwoven composite

The application relates to a nonwoven composite containing a plurality of solid regions and a plurality of porous regions. The solid and porous regions form a repeating pattern on the surface of the composite. The solid regions contain a solid region nonwoven layer, an optional solid region polymer-fiber infused layer, and a solid region cap layer. The solid region nonwoven layer contains a plurality of first staple fibers and less than about 5% by volume of a first polymer. The solid region cap layer contains the first polymer and less than about 5% by volume of the first staple fibers. The porous regions contain a porous region nonwoven layer and a porous region polymer-fiber infused layer. The porous region nonwoven layer contains a plurality of the first staple fibers and less than about 5% by volume of a first polymer. The porous region polymer-fiber infused layer contains a plurality of pores.

Method for forming a stress-free multilayer PVC sheet material
11691404 · 2023-07-04 · ·

A method for forming a multilayer plastic sheet material (1) for floor and/or wall panels, wherein a first polymer mass comprising a rigid PVC is melted under pressure and is passed through an extruder head at a specified discharge rate in the form of a plastic strand in sheet form that is provided with one or more layers so that a multilayer plastic strand is formed, which is passed to two or more rolls of a finishing stand, which processes the multilayer plastic strand into a sheet of defined thickness, which is then led away via a transport device to a sawing device to be cut to the desired length, wherein, after the plastic strand in sheet form leaves the extruder head, it is first passed between a top roll and a bottom roll of a roughing stand, wherein the speed of the rolls of the finishing stand and the rolls of the roughing stand is synchronized with the discharge rate of the plastic strand in sheet form from the extruder head, so that said plastic strand is processed without stress.

Synthetic fabric having slip resistant properties and method of making same
11542711 · 2023-01-03 · ·

A synthetic nonwoven fabric having bonded fibers forming channels surrounding unbonded fibers forming raised slip resistant spots. The fabric is made by extruding hot polymer through a spinneret die onto a moving belt to form a sheet of random fibers, which sheet undergoes a calendering process between a pair of heated rollers, one of which rollers having a plurality of cavities defined in its surface. The resulting fabric can be laminated and otherwise combined with other layers as desired to provide an end product having good slip resistant properties.
